Do you mean 12/8?
I've never heard a psy track in 3/4.
Ocelot - On Fire
if you mean 12/8. |

hehe this has been discussed/argued over a lot before.
xrust, what you mean is not an odd time signature (though 3/4 wouldn't sound that odd actually), but another "mode" of playing. normally, our music is in "binary" mode, meaning every beat is divided by 2 (1/4 = two eight's, 1/8 = two sixteenth's, etc).
now haldolium's remix to "one of these days" is in "ternary" mode, as is jazz, blues, swing music. that means that 1/4 is divided by 3 instead of 2, thus 1/4 = 3 eight's that are a bit shorter than normal eight's = dotted eight's. rock/rnb/hiphop music works with dotted notes a lot too.
this sort of beat is also called shuffle or swing beat, but it's not a different time signature. afaik, "one of these days" is a normal 4/4, but shuffled.

That track on your myspace is in 4/4 but with a triplet feel.
If you want to here psy trance in 3/4 I remember hallucinogen did a track in 3/4 on the lone deranger... I think it was track 2. It starts off in 4/4 then around the 2:30 mark... maybe a bit past that it goes into 3/4.
That's pretty rare in trance but I thinks it's pretty damn cool. |

it's not 3/4.
although there are 12/12 instead of 16/16, each meter consists of 4 beats. so it's 4/4
xrust, in a regular project you just need to change the note length from 1/4th to 1/3rd. you place the kicks in the regular form u're used to and the bassnotes just between..
so instead of a KbbbKbbbKbbbKbbb, you'll have a KbbKbbKbbKbb
pm me if you find trouble.

i don't to be a pain in the ass, but in all kinds of music the rythmic signature defines the number of beats (again, not kicks) in a meter. In dance music, yes, every beat has a kick on it; thus 4/4
Shpongle and several other electronic non-dance groups do use 3/4 signatures.. check out Divine Moments of Truth.. it begins with 3/4 and accends into 4/4 in the 2nd part of it.
<since we speak the same language> what you're refering at is what in greek we call: 'trihxa' (ogdown / tetartwn etc.)
-i'm sorry for not using english for this one, but i'm not familiar of the english term-
of course there are plenty of ways to achieve some same result, and i really don't bother if u're happy with your one i just wanted to make it easier and more handy to your work
ps. i believe -if i assume correctly- that you may have a bpm fix problem with this way of working. most probably your project's bpm might be set to 1.33x(actual.track.bpm).. but then i may be wrong.
that's all
peace
