sometimes i listen to tracks at home to think what would be good at a party and some tracks that i totally think are not that good, i hear later at some party only to discover that they are pure magic... i know the sound system has a big part in this, but why is this the case? i wish you could always know... anyone had this happen to them?

All the time...
I played in few parties last year and some tracks I like very much just don´t got good dancefloor response... (I heard other djs playing them and they didn´t got good response too). For example some Sub6 tracks.
Also at home is "strange" to listen to tracks that are made for the dancefloors (like Astrix and Highguy - Chaos), but I keep on playing them at home.
And there are that tracks that I don´t like much and I don´t think will get good dancefloor response, but at parties seems very good (like Uforia - Free Kick).
For sure the sound system make lots of difference.

I've noticed this a little bit too. I generally don't like to listen to "dance tracks" at home because they just aren't very well suited to solely listening.
I think a lot of it has to do with the crowds energy level, mood and the vibe of the party. I heard Alien Project play 'The First Revelations', which I consider to be a fairly interesting but not awesome track, at a party and the response was absolutely insane. I never would have suspected it to get such an overwhelmingly positive response. |

True full on... I also thought what miracles this track (Highuy & Astrix) would do on the dancefloor, while at home it's hard for me t listen to it.
Don't forget you're in a different mood at home. Furthermore at a party you've gt the dj mixing, and if he's a good dj he can make a horrible track sound heaven.
