Why I switched from cubase to renoise?
for the workflow: with Renoise I create loops and pattern in seconds, just using keyboard shortcuts (yes it's similar to fruity if you can use number instead of buttons; buttons are more beatiful, numbers are more powerful). Watch some videos on youtube!
for the GUI: when is played in fullscreen demostrate that all those floating windows that traditional seq have are stressing my nerves. In Renoise all windows are perfectly managed and you have by default spectrograms, audio editor, vsti gui, etc etc
Have a try and you'll understand what I mean!
for his philosophy (maybe the most innovative): Renoise is a community driven project that means that if you have feature request you can post it in the community forum and cast a vote. If the vote say "yes" you'll see that feature in the next release. It's nice to speak with developer instead of a customer service. Visit the forum to understand better!
But...
You've tried Renoise? maybe it worth a try...
The full functional demo lacks of the support for ASIO (i think) but is ok for mess a little wth samples and synths. The first impact for me was almost terrific, but after a day I feel perfectly confortable with it.
Have fun! http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi |

I love some of the old tunes written on Atari trackers. Did anyone have any Automation/Pompey Pirate discs?
Someone (if I remember correctly) called Purple Noise did some great music.
If you really want that old stule sound. Get a modern sequencer, install the NES sounds VST for bleepy effects and add some bitcrusher to everything else.
As for method. I'm not sure you can beat trackers, they are unique! |
