multiband compressor is what you need, i suppose. But why should you spectre look like the second one?
And, where are the hi freqs?           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

i analyzed some songs, and the most tracks looks like the 2nd picture. i dont know why the high freq are kutted off after 15khz.
i just tried to do it identical, i thought most tracks look like this?

multibandcompressor for leads only? what is the difference to a simple compressor?

greetings!

I think, multiband comp on master channel. The difference is that multiband comp allows you to affect certain frequencies, instead of the whole range.           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

It's more of a slight comb filter effect than high peaks.
Are you using a lot of EQ'ing with narrow Q in the track?
If it sounds good it's nothing to worry about since it doesn't affect the overall frequency balance or dynamics too much.

I don't think a multiband compressor will help much since the overall balance in different bands is fine and it's like you suggest a much better idea to work on the individual sounds than trying to resolve the problem by processing on the master.

You peaks and valleys is a fraction of an octave wide which is not what a multiband compressor is meant to deal with, and if you want to flatten out the response a very precise EQ would be the way to do it.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

I take it you want the frequency spectrum to be more transparent. If this is the case I would choose an eq and (or) maybe a maximizer           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
