just something i m wondering , back in the days what drum machine was using total eclipse? i love that snare , or maybe they used sample? doubt it cause i hear the same snare used by some other artists too,it s probably a drum machine .their drums is a big part of their sound with these acid lines that may come from a sh101?

I'm thinking one of the Rolands, probably 909 like Euphorica said, could also be a 606, 707 or 808. I'm having trouble disguinshing them from eachother so I just call it a roland-hit

thanks guys but there is that snare sound on the 909? ithink it s more a older tr , not 808 or 909 but i could be wrong i will check 606/707 samples. their drums always sounded different than many other trance artists of that time make me doubt it s the 909 that everyone was using.

here a other sample , it dont sound 909 to me but it could be with processing have no idea... maybe they used samplers with diverse drums machine samples.. what contribute to their drums sound is nice programing too , these acids lines and drums sounds scream total eclipse ,it would be 909 it would be less special, just hearing their drums i know the track is from them.

I'm pretty sure all the drums on both those tracks are samples. There are definitely some 909 snares in Chaotic Circus but the fact that there are also other snare sounds in there, and the fact that the kick drums are so different from each other, makes me think that they used a sampler for their percussion. This is also what we did around that time; sample CDs weren't difficult to get hold of back in the '90s and we used whatever sounds we could find to give each track its own percussive identity.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
