I have been out of the downtempo chillout music loop for a few years. (Working too hard and not chilling, no fun!)
I just subscribed to Spotify and I am looking for some great new releases to enjoy.
Please post your top chillout of 2013 picks below!
Thanks. |

Hey Schofield, hope all is well with you
Based on your list I think you'll enjoy this one: http://bombayduborchestra.bandcamp.com/releases
You probably know the project, but did you know they released a new album this year?
I only found out recently. Really good stuff. Their best work in my opinion.
CHeers!

Oh, and of course I meant they released a new album last year. Still didn't get quite used to the fact we started a new year

Schofield,
Nice list... I can't wait to enjoy these tunes.
Bodhisattva,
I discovered Bombay Dub Orchestra last night, heard "Tales From the Grand Bazaar"... enjoyed it very much!
A fresh take on "dubbed out ethno tribal" sound.
Something like if Ott & Lee "Scratch" Perry remixed a Beats Antique album. |

Yep, there's definitely a bit of it all in their music. The first and second album are great as well.
Cheers!

Great thread, now I'm able to check out any albums that did'nt came up on my radar!
What did you think about these albums?
Benji Vaughn - Even Tundra (Even if's not a pure chillout album I found the album very good and different)
Banco De Gaia - Apollo
Scann-Tec - Live at Hypnotique
VA - The Next Mission: Part Three
Deep Fried Dub - Slow Cooked
Life is too short for boring music! |

I would agree with everything posted so far, save for the few I've not yet heard. Given the high quality of the suggestions I feel I might add a couple which you all may enjoy if you have not already heard them…
Yarn, Yanrnia (also their EP and Live Set from Ozora 2013 (its terrific) - both on Bandcamp)
Wolfen Technologies, Perception Deception (on Bandcamp)
Zen Baboon has a Live EP available in WAV via request Sound Cloud - it is very good, esp More U Look. May not have been released last year, but it is worth getting. He won't take any money, just wants to spread the love
Of course the line has to be drawn somewhere, there are a few other great releases last year. |
