i've worked with quite different software and here are my comments on them.....sort of top listing
1) i love Reason because of its simple, yet gr8 interface.
2) FL Studio has the step model which makes it quite easy to "see a pattern", but lacks is a big pain when it comes to automation, clumsy when too many channels are added etc.
3) Cubase - i've found it very difficult to work on this, but since so many people swear by this, i guess it has to be somewhere near the top!
4) Acid Pro - though making a track is very easy in this, creating loops somewhere (or dl them) and using them can get quite irritating.
5) Rebirth - i know its ages ago, but this still can pack a punch
6) Buzz machines - though a friend commented that making tracks are not fun with Buzz machines, the sheer number of features available should definitely rank this among the top....its been quite a while since i used Buzz, so maybe the latest dl has improved interface.......
7) Hammer Head - Amazingly simple and brilliant, check out http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/
be sure to explore the site well...
8) Traktor - i know its not a music creating software, but still its good fun to play around with (i always use it get some inspiration!)
ps: This is a top 8 instead of 10 becoz of my limited knowledge...!

9. Recycle - Essential, best loop editing and bpm changing prog.

All i really need for my work is this:
Cubase SX - It's easier than it might look to unexperienced users, surely if you compare it to Logic, Pro Tools or earlier Cubase Versions
Reason 2.5 - Well it has it all, i mean i can do almost all the sounds i imagine, but i can't use it alone because it's sequencer is beyond terrible.
Reaktor 4 - When i'll grow up (or have more time and butt to learn it) i'll make my own synths, but now i use the presets, and oh boy they are fantastish.
Waves FX - To fatten up the sound and to finalize the work.
Sound Forge 6 - Because SX doesn't do the Audio edit as easily as this one, and because i can operate it with the keyboard alone 
Traktor - To get the inspiration and to imagine i do my thing in front of 10000 raving tranceheads
Maybe next Samothraki

haven't u heard of decoderblaster???? Gr8 software for extracting sounds from virtually anything (.dat, .mpg, .cda etc)!!!

so mac vs pc here or what.(again and again..)
some ppl swear by logic, other tell me they have no use for logic..
so ppl, tell me then, what is the most important difference between, logic and cubase sx?
or in other words, what can i do with logic, what i cant with others??
