I have limited space on my iPhone & am going to be spending long time on airplane going O/S in November. I want to know what ppl think I should put from Ultimae?
Definitely having Asura "360" & CBL "Hydroponic Garden". Yet to hear new Aes Dana. I have every album but no Farenheit Project as I wanna wait for limited edition box set next year

for me CBL - World Of Sleepers can't be topped
new AES Dana deserves a place on there too.
as for Farenheit Project, not sure which is best. Would be interested to hear peoples recommendations too.

Keep some space for the CBL-23, see if you can track down Aes Dana-Aftermath. As for Solar Fields I would go with Extended, I find SF recent output too dramatic and predictable. Also theres Jamey Murray and Cell solo albums. And most of all Cell Live at Ketama. My fave FP are 5 & 6. |

4 & 6 are the best from that series in my opinion. Regarding other Ultimae compilations, Albedo & Imaginary Friends are fantastic, though if you haven't already got a copy of Albedo, you probably won't be able to get a new one until it will be reprinted ( if at all ). The two Oxycanta comps are wonderful as well, but same goes for them too.
Anyway, for me to pick only five would be very hard ! Since in my opinion ( as opposed to some other people ) each Ultimae release is quite different from the other one, and they are all good.
All the CBL, Aes Dana, and Solar Fields releases are wonderful ( except maybe Origin # 01 by SF which is not as good as his other stuff in my opinion ). The James Murray, I Awake, Cell, Hol Baumann and Hybrid Leisureland albums are beautiful diamonds. The last two Asura releases are must have albums as well, and the studio albums of H.U.V.A Network are something else too ( and the live one is worth buying for sure ). The Circular album is also great. And of course there's the Sync24 album which is special.
Anyway, I guess I'm not being very helpful, sorry

I recommend these three (added to your two):
1. VA - Imaginary Friends -> their best compilation, emotional sounds, variety of ideas, every track is exceptional in its own way
2. Solar Fields - Leaving Home -> this one actually fits the theme with its name... Also, this is imo the best SF album, the progression is way too good to be missed
3. James Murray - Where Edges Meet -> very underrated yet gorgeous album. Delicate soundscapes, creative ideas, stunning flow.

Maybe this wiil help you a bit:
http://forum.isratrance.com/ultimae-top-5/
Let's just say that if one is starting an Ultimae diet, any CBL, Solar Fields, Asura Aes Dana, and a couple of Fahrenheit Project comps of his/her choice would be the cornerstones, and albums such as Where Edges Meet, Human, The Core, Hanging Masses or Scroll Slide for example, would be consumed in order to increase and expand the efficiency of the diet, and releases such the H.U.V.A ones or comps like Albedo, Imaginary Friends and Oxycanta would be consumed as something that will keep the person fresh, interested and motivated by adding other colors and diversity to the diet, so the person on will not go off of it. Diversity is a very important thing in everything one is doing.
Cheers !

I concur with Solar Fields's Leaving Home. Nothing comes close really. It's perfect. |

Hi all & thanks for your tips!!
I've gone a bit over 5 but here they are:
Aes Dana - "Perimeters"
Asura - "360"
Solar Field - "Altered - Second Movement" my fav. album of S.F even if it's just spaced remixes.
Cell - "Hanging Masses"
Carbon Based Lifeforms - "Hydroponic Garden"
H.U.V.A Network - "Live At Glastonbury 2005" I just find it so much more expansive and detailed than the albums.
V.A - "Oxycanta - Winter Blooms"
The other psybient/chill I've got for the trip is:
Hallucinogen - "In Dub mixed by Ott"
Ishq - "Orchid" (CD 1)
Shpongle - "Nothing Lasts... But Nothing's Lost"
Re:Evolution II, III & IV freestyle mixes
V.A - "Unity Dubs Voyage Into Paradise"
Amongst a heap fo other mixed CDs of various genres

+1 for Cell - Hanging Masses and CBL - World of Sleepers!
  - The yeti loves to drink shnaps too, so he's like a real shaman... he, uhm, uh, if you want to contact him, you have to put some alcoholic offerings in front of the forest. |
