No competition if everythings free for download. competing 4 what?

Maybe trance is crap bcoz it works on hippie economics. i.e. every1 makes it for fun, not for money.
what happens, it attracts no serious musicians who have 2 make a living, therefore it thrives on amateur bedroom artists (myself included), who ruin the scene by making bad music & further hindering trances' trading for money. Vicious circle.
I think that from this light trance is crap as a standard. good trance is actually an unlikely phenomenon that happens relatively rarely.
Sorry dudes just feeling sorry 4 myself.Never thought that free love etc would b downfall of good music.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

but i wouldnt exactly say that "free love" is to blame for the fall of the psychidelic-music-economy. your vicious circle example makes sense, but its hard to generalize and say "thats how it really is." you know?

i dont exactly have a better explination either.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

But u see Im intuitive, so I get 2 make sweeping generalisations without any evidence.

Im not saying that all trance is bad. I wouldnt b here if that was true.
But just bcoz som1 likes repetitive, unevolving music does not make it good. in fact it just means they have bad taste.
Music is good objectively for reasons other than personal taste.
Im not a Hippy that thinks ever1 is OK, u do get amazing & u get shmucks who like 2 think theyre amazing.
Its like britney spears vs Andreas Vollenweider. spears tailors 2 teenage market which has no taste. Vollenweider basically makes music 4 himself (in comparison) @ a really cheap price just coz he loves 2.
Still spears & all her fans like 2 think she makes music.
Whats worse is that if good artists r desperate 4 cash there will b pressure 2 make crap as well 2 b more in the times.

But I dont think theres anything 2 b done. I actually have 2 admit for the first time that mp3 is killing the trance scene. not the proliferation of it, but the quality of it. Cant believe Id say this.

pardon my crappy english but this is 100% subjective, maybe you dont like psytrance at all, thats the problem. Maybe u preffer house, pop, vocal, jazz, whatever... In psytrance theres no such thing as hippie economics, in fact, as a producer and guitarist i can tell you that for psytrance u need at least a computer than cost more money than a crappy second hand acoustic guitar. As your love for producin music grows, you need more equipment, software, monitors, amps, keyboards, etc...more investment. Theres a lot of crappy trance, thats true as with every genre of music these days, in fact, if u watch mtv you wonder if these heavy money invested artist make more crap proportionally as their label invest.
Every serious musician in the world is a bedroom artist, if they dont play in their bedroom then they dont love creating music nor they dont practice, a big difference of those "just studio" artist who produce a song in...one day...but invest a lot of money and the rest of the week in marketing with their label, magazines, photos, promotion and rankin in charts, but guess what..they make even worst music. Thats hippie economics? it seems the inverse to me. Maybe a lot of kids these days make trance and want to be famous inmediately as with pop and rock music also. Thats the beauty, cuz they crash their heads against a wall and learn to persist if they really LOVE the music.

About the so many trance mp3 lurkin around.. pal, its an obvious phenomenon... trance is ELECTRONIC MUSIC.

haha well said.
Also, there is a far greater percentage obviously of people who actually want to get in on making the art in psytrance vs rock music or jazz(ie. alot more just casual listeners in non electronic music who have no interest in actually adding to the music themselves) Thats not "hippy" economics, its just economics period, there isnt going to be as much money to go around. Less demand from a smaller audience and more supply because of the audience being so actively involved with actual production.
If you want to make money get a real job that has something to do with what people actually need, weird noises over a beat are pretty cheap to come by these days.

dudes no need 2 get riled up. Im just trying 2 have a conversation.
I like very many types of music. It is my theory that in any genre of music there were initially trailblazers who made amazing stuff 2 popularise the genre & then there were moochers who try 2 capitalise on a trend.
I enjoy any type of music long as its good. from psytrance, to new age, to jazz, to goth, to country, to pop, to rap, to in fact anything with talent, even gawdawful j-pop sometimes. so no Im not ragging on any particular type of music.
I am ragging the moochers who try 2 copy a genre instead of adding 2 it & pretending theyre musicians.
I just want the musicians in trance 2 pick up their standards. thats all. please. More originality, more complexity, more depth. Is that really 2 much 2 ask?
If ur gonna make music ask urself, r u making music or passable, instantly forgeteable trash?

dudes did u read the link above? Its a summary of possible objective standards by which 2 judge whether music is good. Please consider it when making music.
