recently I noticed while torrenting for albums that theres like 16 new alternative, 6 new age, 26 new metal, etc etc.
& 76 new Various artist trance albums? 3 times more at least than the rest.

Most of my trance loving friends r very happy & excited about this, but my economics engineering instinct tells me that the only answer for such an abundance of trance is that its 2 easy 2 make.

I admit that theres some gr8 acts out there like deedrah who should b as prolific as possible, but a lot of trance sounds like uninspiring tripe & shmaltz mixed. ear candy basically.(incidentaly thats Y I want 2 learn trance, so I can learn 2 make ear candy for other genres)

My question is, Y do trance labels allow just any tripe 2 b released? Y do people not boo dj's that play untalented trance. Y do so many friggin people get on stage when lame cheesy stuff plays.

Im probably gonna get throttled 4 this, but all I want is sum1 to admit or agree that most trance is crap, with occasional gems of genius. Its not all good just bcoz it makes u dance.
(Ive never taken hard drugs, is this absolutely necessary 2 understand the scene? is that the problem with me?
Ive heard that Wizzy noise has never taken himself since Greece is anti drugs)

b gentl please. Im consciously objecting in the wrong place.

Perhaps torrenting isn't the best source for information about releases? And when you say 76 trance compilations, are they all psytrance or does that include all sorts of euro/vocal/etc trance?           ________________________

that's because the trance comunity also has a big mp3 comunity... unlike any other music style.
and please... don't mix psy or goa with the other trance styles. it's a completly different culture and concept.

Promise not 2.
size of trance Mp3 community doesnt explain it tho. Y should other genres b mp3d less than all the forms of trance?
Theres must definitely b more material 2 mp3 in trance.

indeed... And i know some people in the pub scene... And the psy-part of the pub-scene is very vibrant... Literally everything gets released via the pubs (and ofcourse, a little later it gets spread thru the peer-to-peer programs). For metal it's almost the same, but for techno for example it's not the case...

Hi all, havenīt been posting for a while now

My opinion:

I agree with e-motion, I donīt believe psytrance releases more music than the other genres, what I do believe is that psy listeners are a huge part of music share/download programs.

Also in most genres, people have their favourite bands and donīt download everything for that genre. For example, a rock listener wonīt download things from bands he/she never heard of.

An internet addicted psytrance listener kid will download absolutelly ALL albums they can just to say they have it all. They will just go to psyshop or to a shop, check all the releases and download them all from peer-to-peer...even from bands they never heard of....Actually I believe many spend more time downloading than actually listening to the music...loll...sad...so the music is distributed and more and more kids will have more copies to share and distribute wich makes it widelly available....

Even in the house scenes or other dance genres I think ppl are more concerned with the big hits playing on clubs and parties, not just anything they can grab

Also I agree that psy labels are releasing a lot of crap these days...Having in mind that many labels arenīt anything else but a website and one or two guys sitting behind a computer...Its so easy to do a label and release an album...many are more concerned with the marketing and promotion than on the actual music...

Its not hard to make a formulatted psy tune that will work on the dancefloor I guess...but its not easy to make something good and new that will stand out from the rest...specially with so much available...

But I donīt believe that making GOOD psy trance is any easier that making any other types of dance music...

good point -

"An internet addicted psytrance listener kid will download absolutelly ALL albums"

but then Y is trance a genre where people treat artists interchangeably & just download anything. U wouldnt download music uve never heard the name of, but with trance somehow its ok coz - well u dont really have any expectations except that it will go kick bass bass bass - with samples & frills.(Im being cynical I know, But Im not implicating good stuff in this statement) & strangely that is almost satisfying coz the ear likes that sorta candy.

My personal gripe with trance is that unlike other forms of music where a melody can make a track immortal, like bohemian rhapsody for lack of better example, trance is in no way expected to rely on devices like good melody for its effect. In the end what u get is the "rapidly evolving" property of the trance scene is only that way coz theres no lasting value in almost any of the tracks.
People - rapidly evolving is not a good thing. Change only for the sake of change is stupid & pointless. Im originality obsessed myself like any good capitalist, but making tracks different by inserting different samples & making em pull through the mix is just flaky or untalented.

People please resist these assholes who give u more of the same crap uve heard again & again.
I think it should b a requirement that tracks should b classified in2 static trance or forgettable trance (bad), & melodic trance (good) (as a start). this might force the scene 2 evolve a bit & leave behind the bastards who have no originality of their own.
End Rant.
P.S. if I didnt like this scene I wouldnt care 2 criticise it, Id just move on. I apologise if my opinion is blatantly uninformed.

there's still good trance as well as bad trance. if you know where to choose you'll find good trance.
and the new trance can be good too, most of the stuff i listen is new projects (Inner Action, Dynamo, E-Jekt...)

shouldnt a lot of trance create compitition?

in theory, it would filter out the bad.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:
