Ive noticed at parties, a lot of us dance right next to the speakers... even at home, I blow music at higher volumes.. If I go to a rock show, they're blowing music and along with that theres also head banging... I have no idea if all this can actually slowly make me deaf.. or even damage my brain? can it?

also.. do you play muic at normal volumes or like it loud, all the time?          Nothing is said that has not been said before.

It's all personal choice. I never go to parties and listen to this music at normal volume, and sometimes I do crank it up a notch, but my hearing's fine. I don't like really loud music either to tell you the truth. Anyway, if you don't want to go deaf early, make sure there's more time in between parties so your ears can relax and recuperate. You need to have silence for that...           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

protect your ears!
be conscious about the volume levels
you are usingin private. if you're blasting with your portable set at maximum volume all the time i'd start to get worried...
use QUALITY ear plugs at parties. they don't just muffle the sound but actually limit it a bit so that you can hear the whole range of a track better than without them (this is my personal experience atleast). so you actually hear the music and not just some distorted noise coming out of the speekers AND at the same time you're protecting your ears and don't have to suffer from the distracting eee-eee-eee in your head in the morning. amazing, eh?           "no one ever sweats on a plug-in" -moby

My hearing was good the last time i've checked but my perception of words and sentences is getting worse all the time. I think it's good cause most of the people around me talk bullshit most of the time so i see it as a built in bullshit filter.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

nice to knwo that others are conscious about this as well.. infact I am myself goin a lil deaf... and yeah I guess I need to keep an eye on that volume level!
okay... I have had this question for a while...
do you guys think heavy metal at loud volumes can be more damaging than chill out or trance?           Nothing is said that has not been said before.

It depends on the relative level of course. Other than that, which ever music has more mid (around 3.5k where the ear is most sensitive) is going to be the most damaging.

Loud Rock Concert or or standing next to a speaker in a party would be about 120-125 decibles

Quote:
If we take more extreme examples such as a rock concert or nightclub then you can see that hearing damage can occur very quickly. It will come as no surprise then to discover that many performers and disc jockeys suffer from hearing loss and tinnitus.
