"The Stupid kid from outer space"

Oh, yea!! and by the way who wrote something about why the MS20 doesn`t beeing produced!!
And that it`s why the ms20 controller has taken over instead? Dude!!! get lost, Do you have any idea what such components would cost today??? and you cant be serius saying that they sound yhe same?? This guy better get a jobb on a gas station out in mexico!, this is the type of guy that would try to sell sand in the sahara desert!

Why do you make music? Is your equipment a dick-extension, or do you actually create something mano?

There is great software out these days. There is more to making music then having the best equipment. Many have made some killer fat releases on software based studio, this allows a laptop to be a decent studio.

Even at home i hardly use my nordlead, i have many similar sounds in softsynths.

I also just got the Virus for tc powercore, and its wicked, i am really impressed with this synth.

As for kids on toy computers, let them enjoy, they are young and have a budget, maybe you are just sore since you havent been released or something.... or let us hear some of your music mano, i am curious....

" I think it's safe to say that you are not trying to help people so much as you are trying to either impress them, bankrupt them, or both."

used hardware though wont bankrupt you and in the long run its cheaper than software.
Ive been selling some gear lately:
kurzweil k2000 - bought for $490 in 2002 and sold it last week for $450. Nord micro modular, bought new a year and a half ago for $300 and sold it for $300.
Reaktor 2.3, paid $450 in 1999, $150 for the upgrade to 3.0 and now that reaktor 5 is coming out i doubt i could even sell it for $20 bucks.
software is only cheap if your useing cracks

U probibly shouldent sort the virus powercore
as a softsynt since the plugin is written to work whit the powercores dsp which makes it identical as the original hardware!

If it was what you meant?

TRue virus powercore isnt pure softsynth, but the gist of what i mean is that you dont need to spend a fortune and buy all the best hardware to have decent sound. I think knowing what to do with what you have is more important; lots of good music is made with limited equipment; recently a friend of mine stopped using his studio in favour of a laptop with all softsynths, since he was on his way to india, and he managed to make some really nice music that sounds every bit as good as the music he made before with a studio with juno, nord, virus, external compression reverbs etc... and he really feels it is just a matter of experience and knowing what to do with your softsynths, plugins etc....

It is sad to see that most people spend their time running after the 'best' gear to make music like women_unleashed_in_supermarket.

Seriousely, you should focus on making music no matter what kind of gear you have. There are people who make excellent music with basic gear. Sometimes Top-notch gear may have downsides because of its overwhelming complexity.

To sum it up, stop being Gear-bitches and make music instead!

This post has angered me...

@Astralasia
I'm seventeen, i've been making electronic music since I was nine... the only income I get is from taking photos part-time for magazines. I don't have close to enough money to get expensive hardware equipment. The closest thing i've come to buying hardware myself is my powercore card.
I try to buy as many VSTi's and VST's as possible, because in my opinion it's how you use the equipment that counts...

I frankly don't give a shit if you use hardware if you use it badly... the sound may be richer or whatever but if the riff is crap... who cares?
I have respect for people who've earnt their money to buy hardware and make GOOD music, that's a proper, positive use for hardware! and if i get a bigger income or get signed then of course i'll buy hardware! but for the moment I can make do and still sound good without it...
If you're saying that the new generation of producers are automatically 'bad' producers because they don't have hardware then you are a fool who does not want our music to evolve. It is impossible to deny how fast VSTi technology is advancing... so instead of complaining about software, try and embrace it...

Not shure if i can agree whit u?
I think What Astralasia means is that
whit these "mastering Eq" the sound image will improve, because such eq doesnt work as a ordinary eq! but how can u say that he dont want the music to evolve?
How many here have worked whit such gear?
probibly non! so we cant know the diffrence!
How good it can get! and i dont mean the music, THE SOUND! Amen!

But thats only what i assume!           Imagine if life was a trip, and you where the passanger.

i think Astralasia has already proved from other threads that he his a complete Dickhead!!

the big winner who works at the music store with all the amazing hardware....SO WHAT...do you think any of us actually care about you and your hardware....NO!

couldnt give a shit if you were running Tools with the biggest Digidesign desk, or whether you were using Focusrite and TC outboard processors...etc

DUDE if you havnt realised yet...ITs NOT about what or the size of your gear , but how the hell you use it....

please on behalf of everyone here would you post some sample music of yours , so we can really see if all that gear in your hands makes a difference....

and yes i agree good hardware is untouchable, my dad got a Roland 3030 Verb unit the other day, and it makes a remarkable difference on some of the soft verbs...

but you should remember Astra boy, ....Genius in music does not come from how fucking amazing your hardware is or whatever....it stems from the mind that is using whatever that is at their disposal to the maximum limits...now thats the skilll....just because you have kickass phat gear doesnt automatically turn you into the sound engineer/producer hotshot...or make you more talented or more genius at music creation...

so lets put this hardware thingy to rest please.

This is the Future! The Future is NOW, and currently the Future is holding software sound applictaions in high-esteem at the moment,...so get with it or shut up!!

Astralasia you obviously will get a nervous breakdown by the time this topic gets locked.
And btw i own the old KorgMS20 which today is only an artifact (not the new midi controller), and yeh ive been curious after buying it to compare to the VST plugin, and yeah they sound the same, which is a fact and whatever u say cant convince me in the opposite cause i trust my own years and not your words of definitions.
Hardware software whoever uses whatever . Who are you to say who has to use what? So get some Valium because your time is running out i dont wanna read you in the newspapers.
And about producers being kids: yeah they are kids, bad production and shit, but in some of them there is a talent, and they will continue in the old age when they will become legends, while the others will work in a music shop or whatever. Who the fuck cares!           http://www.insected.com
