i dont agree with what astralasia sayd here,
but i think i do agree with some of the ideas behind it.
elite or not elite...this is an era were the
tools to creat trance or any electronic music, is as easy than ever, just grab and take, you read a review somewere in the net or a magazine on a pluggin, download it, and walla you got it...
from the released cds i heard in the last few months, it does sound like psytrance artists are "shooting themselves in the leg"
abit...things sound very very much the same,
some tracks realy sounded like the same one
with samples put in, in a different order...
and for along time personaly i havnt had that..."fuck ya!!! that was absoulutely original. i havnt heard that beffore..."
for a long time now...this could be due to the reason i wrote above, people find out
in what a close reach the ability to make
the music they love is at...down load buy the basic equipment, look for presets, read some tips in forums...and eventualy make a track...i know this sounds very generalizing,
i do not mean to generalize...but the fealing
i get from meating people who make tracks and listenning to alot of the latest music...
it sounds like people are trying to copy more from previouse tracks(wich is nothing wrong...) than comming up with something new...in psytrance - a style that always developes forwords in my opinion...
just some thoughts....

I love the current psytrance music, don't matter for me if a kid made it or a 81 years old grandma as long it rocks.
Also most people i know that are into the psytrance scene, love the actual full-on stuff. Me too. It is good music if it is good MUSIC. Doesn't matter if there are some sounds the same.
Look at rock music, always the same sounds. Some with a lot of other styles. The content matters. And a lot of bleeps, crazy fx and some simple and not simple melodies are a good content.
Peace

Do you think because you work in some music store and have access to a bunch of expensive equipment you're somehow better then these "kids" who can't afford it, but are still trying to express themselves with music just using a cheaper alternative. Or are you just jealous that these "kids" are actually gettin g recognised because they *can* make music, and no matter how hard you try with your "universal audio" and "urei" you still can't make a good track.
I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but the way your approached this topic was all wrong at the start, and constantly trying to prove that you're better then people who use software because you have access to some high end audio equipment in your shop is just stupid. Have some respect man, how can you judge these people who are just trying to have fun/express themselves based solely on the fact they use software because they can't afford anything better.
This topic reeks of elitism and an arrogant attitude, if I was you I'd get some respect for your fellow producers, whatever level they're working at. |

Did you even most of what I said? Yes you seem to have back-peddled a fair way from your original "i'm elite" and "u don't know anything, i do" comments, but I don't even care about your music. I'm more concerned about your generalisations that these "kids" with their "software" are ruining the "scene".
Edit - Um calling the quality (be it sound or music) of other people "Crap" or "toilet paper" is not saying it's sucking? Is that a compliment in sweden or something?
This is my whole point, you didn't approach this topic as a "hey guys you should really check out hardware some time, it's really good and it will make a difference" instead you approached as "if you don't use hardware you sound like "toilet paper"". |

"Um calling the quality (be it sound or music) of other people"
"the quality (be it sound or music) of other people"
"quality (be it sound or music)"
"(sound or music)"

The sound quality OR the music quality, insulting the sound quality OR the music quality, you said the sound quality of these "kids" was "toilet paper", is that not an insult, is that not akin to saying they're sucking? Ahhhhhhhh. |

Astralasia, Fat Boy Slim has made tunes that topped the charts with nothing but two AKAI s950 samplers.
Mylo did his latest album in Reason (someone else mixed things down for him, but he did write the tunes in Reason and used sounds from the samplers) and let me tell you the quality of DESTROY ROCK & ROLL, is not your average psy-trance release!
Before you go on and say that they used samples and not their own sounds, dance music is based on sampling other people's music.

Astralasia: yes you were saying you were better and you were denouncing all these "kid" producers who use VSTs. Now you are backtracking since everybody is jumping on you. Why don't you shutup and spend your time making music and not criticizing people for the technology they use. If they are getting signed, its because there's a demand for their music. Obviously theres no demand for your music despite your 4 Virus synths and other hardware. Clear jealousy here. 14 yr old kids obviously cant afford a $20,000 studio. Its quite amazing that today's technology allows even kids in their bedrooms to express themselves musically. How is this a bad thing?? Insecure people suck. Get a life. |
