Would like a good modified one like this, by would rather pay for a nicely made standard one & wait to get the modifications done post purchase.
I bought a Minibrute today, and put a down payment on a Korg MS-20 mini & Moog Sub Phatty (got an awesome deal). One of these will top off my gear fetish nicely for now.

ok so we got it.
at first impression it is not nearly as fat as the simple freebass we had, and the filter is not nearly as responsive. also some of the mods don't really affect the sound that much, the distortion and bass boost are really subtle, and the output is not the cleanest in the world.
must say it is a bit disappointing, will probably use it a bit and sell it. feels like the bad kind of analog meaning like a plugin but dirty :/ maybe it replicates a 303 better than a freebass, but bottom line sound i donno, meh... get a freebass for 1/3 the cost for a real fat bass synth or use a plugin imo.
it is what it is, homemade analog. don't expect the korg/moog/oberheim analog sound. more like the MFB Nanozwerg type of vibe.
if you get one, hear it first so you understand what it is, and don't fork big money for it, don't be like me and buy if based on the hype it gets.
don't get me wrong we will use it at least for a while, but it's not as cool as we thought.

yes this is what i thought prior to buying it, about the circuits. but it seems this guy is one of the better sellers/builders. the build itself at least externally is beautiful for a non production-line machine.
i just got a nice 303 line from it fiddling. it is capable of stuff, just weird responses and not the cleanest in the world i donno. i also felt this way about the sherman filterbank and it is by all means considered a great machine so it might just be me. For me good analog is like the Korg Mono/Poly in the way it should behave and sound.

i was listening some comparaison and some clones do sound more sterile than the 303 to me, it suffer from what lot of modern analog suffer,sound is less charming. some bad clone sound closer to plugins than real 303, i exagerate a bit but it s not far

i dont think its a quality of components, its the rarety of the right ones.
only so many origional xoxes were made, basicqally using up the rest of the components available (well the really i mportant ones) so now most are made from modern day equivalents or aproximations
i love mine to bits, even tweeked some of the variable resisters . really nice after half an hour as well

but does it really matter if its not spot on, i mean you r gona bang it into some highain distortion so any qualms bout the soung soon go out the window
plus half the sound of a TB303 is the sequencer
and yes , the origional TB303 was noisey with squeeky saw waves and a little clicky
or have you heard or tried any DINSYNC modular stuff,, really accurate and clean versions of the 303 in eurorack
with loads of extra shit you can do

at the end of the day there all shit soundin lol 'dirty ,noisy. - what did u expect? like sum dude tryin to crack software..ul never reach the real thing in terms of Roland lol,considerin there prototype was to emulate a bass guitar haha, vst over analog -all the same crash over stability,karma free
its your choice of note patterns that count over quality, meaning and then what ya put on it next that matters surely??!
as for the face plate lol - atleast make the buttons bigger..
quit fukin moanin lol like shit iz so cosey just enjoy it rather than regret it

for what its worth, i have an unmodded xox from xoxshop in germany. got if off ebay for 369 euros (2nd hand though). they guarantee and list all original components and i am as happy as i could be. stable, no noise, works and sounds like a charm! yes, its not a moog, but i like the sound much better. creamy acid that goes down like a good pint of lager.. i guess your xox is a ripoff then, cause i bet with any proper built one you would be happy. ( i mean i do not have to tell you that a 303 and any clone is very limited, it lives from THAT sound. if you take away the squelchyness and soft mesmerising rubberness you loose it all imho)
