so someone here is offering a xoxbox and i negotiated a decent price with him.
it has 11 mods to it and in theory it seems great.
the thing is, he doesn't know who put together the kit and the mods, and from what i gather there is a wide range of builds of this by different people with some better using the listed parts and some not so good with bad builds and sub-standard electronics.
this is the ebay seller he got it from, but i donno if this info is of much use -

You can't know how it sounds until you get it.
If the unit is fully functional and you've negotiated a good price, go for it.
If it was not built up to spec it will probably not as as "303" as other well built ones, but you will get an analog synth with a 303 sequencer and go beyond the 303 sound with the mods.
That is the thing with buying 2nd hand equipment that you can't test before hand. you never really know what you are going to get, until you get it in the post.

the origional 303 resonance circuit had a power supply problem giving it its warbly fishyness, you know what i mean
the new breed of xox clones dont have this issue as it interfears with the scaling of the cv outs, it a hack rather than a mod but its a very subtle but important fault in the origional

Well I was eyeing an acidlab Bombass
But they have currently run out and basically has been (for now) replaced by the Acidlab Modular:
I ain't gonna mod the x0xb0x I currently have. It has some slight differences to the TB-303 demos I hear on youtube, but I feel there is more punch in the x0x Andy Pledger, built for me.
If I mod a x0xb0x, it will be a newer one I might get in the future. Unless the Bombass comes back to production, or some more gigs pop up and I can afford the Acidlab Modular.

the new studio electronics boomstar synths with the 303 filter may be good for someone taht don t look for the perfect clone, same for the future retro one, a friend use it for live and love it
