does it change your listening towards music when u start producing, when u listen to some super funky ass mubali track, instead of going deep in the core of the earth do u go deep into his cubase layout and tighten up his sidechain? do u like soem music more because its harder to make and not care about shit that seems simple?
do u feel u in the worng place when a beatmatch goes wrong and youre like "wtf this guy is cheap", while the ignorant fool next to you is jumping just the way he was 2 seconds ago?
peace to you and peace to me.

I can't help but to try to break down every sound I hear into it's smallest components or recognizing different tricks a producer has done (I blame my studying of engineering/general ocdness for this).

I definitely get that wrong place feeling when something comes out unbeatmatched. I'm super critical of my own mixing skills as it is, so it's just transference.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

uh well i notice beatmatching slip ups but i dont think ignorant fool! chances are they ar doing it better than me anyways. often times i like more simplistic music because the concept or mood is way stronger psychologically than busy music, Yet i get more physical energy listening to busy music. I dont listen to other peoples tunes and think what i would change,,, it feels like there isnt a place in my head for analytical thinking while dancing and listening. If i am thinking about the music while its playing im not really listening to it. Most of my sets i have been chaotically bouncing between feeling so proud of what im playing to oh my god i made something that is killing the party and hurting peoples ears. For me when i listen to other peoples music i hear things that yes stand out to me but also keep in mind that i did not make this. i did not make it on these speakers in this room and anyone elses ears are used to different things than mine are just as ours are all damaged in different ways so i may not have as well of an ability to hear highs from listening to years of electric guitars in warehouses. When it comes down to it if you are spending your time at a party being that anylitical and judgemental then maybe there are some mirrors floating in front of your face that need to be stared into.

i analyse everything i hear.

i break sounds apart and think about how they were made, how i can recreate them or make them my own. it isn't really that i think of what the person could have done to make it better. when i hear music that i think is unimpressive, i just tend to dismiss it, not waste my time thinking about how to make it more. music that is amazing to me is music that is hard to figure out, music that goes through movements and transitions in ways that are more thoughtful then your typical glitch-stop start-up boom doosh bang.

making music has completely changed the way i listen to it, and in fact, has made me not listen to as much music on my off time. BUT, the way that i listen to music now, i believe, has deepened my appreciation for the tunes that i am really impressed by. i definitely started as a dancer and i am still a dancer. those who are just dancers, though, may listen to the whole night of music and be happy with it all, where i will be completely amazed and blown away by some songs and left a little cold with others.           SS Secret Society Portland, OR
