Seriously, with all the cars driving around here, I can't believe this is even a discussion.

How much pollution and waste goes into (and comes out of) a typical open air party?

Answer: A lot.

I guess the approach is right but what there can be done a lot more in other areas...

a eco friendly CD Player would be interesting, out of environmental materials... what is Pioneer thinking about this?

All my releases are ecologically friendly, they are just smelly sometimes, that is all. Nobody's perfect.           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

i think people have gotten too obessed with "saving"--saving earth, saving lives, saving money, and so on...not realizing that they are not actually living but they are "saving"...saving the best for last..the whole save this save that save jobs etc has really made a mess of peoples mind...yeh u feel good about saving, but whats the point of saving if you dont know how to enjoy the abundance of life? yes i know its cool to be eco these days, but the first thing we need to do is to stop agriculture as it is the biggest contributor to deforestation.
so now to make your cd eco friendly really doesnt have an effect as the paper recycled or not comes from wood pulp and whether you use one tree or two trees doesnt really change the fact that a tree was lost. you may claim that it one less tree was avoided from being cut, but only the lumberjack knows how many barks he sold to the paper manufacturer. Basically the paper manufacturer saved one bark in his warehouse..not on the land...i think eco drive is become so commercial that it doesnt really make sense. Whats really happening is that we have lost faith in nature's ability to rebuild itself, we feel that we have destroyed it and like our old castles and temples that our ancestors destroyed during wars etc we must rebuild nature by replicating, mutilating, and all sorts of weird stuff. Instead of putting nature in our senses, we are putting our sense in nature...and that sense is of "time and efficiency" and numbers....we are looking at nature as an equation that we can solve simply by changing x and y's, a little here a little there and we are looking at nature from a mathematical model...nature is not a measurable.
We need to enjoy nature, whats there is here today and what was there yesterday is not, just like the shifting sand dunes in the desert. Cherish nature dont be possessive about it and go around protecting it, Nature has its powers, it will solve its problem on its own if it really is a problem...we need to rid ourselves of our analysing capability and applying mathematics to everything           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

The gas the generator will use is still nothing compared to the gas it takes for everyone to get there.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

The earth has been here for billions and billions of years. Lived through cataclysmic meteor impacts, solar flares, polar shifts, ice ages, who knows what else. Life is gonna go on. When we've gotten too out of hand then the earth is gonna shake us off like a bad case of fleas. While things like eco-friendly CD cases are a nice touch, what is it really saving? I think it's a little presumptuous for us to think we're gonna "save" or "destroy" the earth. The earth can take care of itself pretty damned well. Why not focus on saving ourselves?

True. People are "saved" in different ways, though.

hmm , i wonder , in trance scene its about 2 cds per day (x1000 copies) , thats about 70,000 cds that will be in the garbage one day (100 years maybe , some maybe in 1)

and now , here is little quote i found

"...even with 5,000 plus commercial flights in the air at any one time over the whole usa...

blessings,
dr james
retired cfo, pilot and air surgeon"

i think the numbers and the problem of 1 flight compare to 1 cd making it tiny tiny thing to care about. but sure bless evryone that does his own change!          www.sattelbattle.com

My first CD will just be shoved in a block of tofu and wrapped in free trade hemp. It will cost $13 USD plus $2,000 international shipping (delivered by a personal courier who uses nothing but a compost-powered sailboat and a recycled bike that's missing one tire). For every one that sells, I will focus all of my positive energy into a flower for approximately 47 minutes.

awesome!!!

and i agree with Axis Mundi. the whole "saving the earth" thing is really "saving ourselves." it's all about keeping the planet hospitable for humans. the earth (and the universe as a whole) is a very violent place. and whatever it is we are doing pales in comparison with everything that has happened with the planet in the past.

that doesn't mean we shouldn't worry about these things. but let's not kid ourselves. it's more along the lines of not pissing in your own bathtub.

but, really, thanks for the laugh, kane.

I'm just annoyed by the whole "going green" as a trend thing..focusing on the tiny issues that you can profit from instead of prioritizing in a realistic sense and just being as responsible as possible. I would rather pay a bit more for you to bike or use public transport when you can instead of driving.

Another important thing about this is looking into how much energy is going into getting and using those soy inks and everything. Seems like it's just another recycling kind of deal..do we pollute with more landfills or use even more energy reusing it?           You believe in the users?
