A jazzy touch on the darker psychedelic trance works really nicely... it's been a while since I heard anything new exploring this territory, but the new Zenon records compilation has a few dope pieces with a jazzy touch. I'd say it's a great area for psytrance artists to explore in 2005, hope to hear more like this!

I don't find jazz very trance like and lacking a real "root" or hook needed to bring peopple into trance. It's just too spaced out to really carry me away on a dance floor.
DnB have quite jazzy influences many times, but too me it sound like dance music for one legged people.

So I'd say sure have a go at it if you like, but personally it's not my cuppa.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Sample some Krumelur, I think they do a great job of the fusion... just a touch of the jazz, whether it be percussive (breakdown in You Decide) or with actual loops... there was also a project Cat Sized Climbers which did some excellent work with hard/dark psychedelic trance and a jazzy lead. Eat Static, Praecox & Tromesa, Loopus in Fabula all have the touch. I suppose it's not really a peak-time influence... nonetheless:

very offtopic ...

but i love the way artists like bluetech use jazz influences in their tracks

yeah jazz is cool ...... but it needs to be used in a very creative manner which iam afraid with the rigid and slightly restrictive structures of psytrance(fullon, dark ect.) need a lot of creativity which only a few posses ....

Listen to some Miles...birth of the cool, birth of smoking electric groove jazz: In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Live Evil, On The Corner, Big Fun, Live at the Fillmore, Pangea, Agartha, and later, We Want Miles.

Not only does it trance out, it's got some serious harmonic interplay when you consider 2/3 keyboard players in the band.

To most "trance" people I know, jazz usually just makes their heads explode.

Tromesa's album "Pseudomental"(on Spiral Trax) is pure trance-jazz.

Tomek even used to play with a t-shirt with the word "JAZZ" on it.

Jazz-funk is definitely very good for dancing and Haltya does a very good job mixing it with trance. Check out Hero for example: Shaft on acid.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Jazz & swing music is the dancefloor (wild) music from 1930 to 1950. Son i thinks is possible to mix whit a Dancefloor music from 2005.
Tempos from the up jazz swing rythms is more fast.
Fast hard bop (fast jazz from '60) or be bop (fast jazz from '40 & '50) is from 200bpm to 300bpm.

But for my experience is hard to mix the 2 styles, a lot of time you have a bad "melange" from modern music to old school..... & is very cheese.......

The Bitches Brew complete studio recording from MILES DAVIS, is a very psychedelic music.
Psyhedelic in ambient & down tempo vibes, i suggest this album for all.

Check the artist DRUMATIK, sometime he put jazz samples in tracks & is very good.

Jazz for dancefloor is trance music!!!!!!
