4 bar mini drop
32 bar main section

Good job on only taking the advice of "roll a phat one" and "get to work" that was given to me in this thread . Hmm, thread idea is a-brewing.

The search function would probably work better if it wasn't set to 7 days by default - I thought it was pretty useless til I noticed that! |

if u just started on ableton and want to write a track i can only say try both options in writing your track.
i mean for me it is much more easy to write my story in arrangement view. anyway i wrote my track for pretty long time first in clip view, with lot of different loops and clips, one shots whatever. after i recorded a arrangement by clicking all this stuff live, starting all the scenes u just made before and play around with some clips, adjusting, changing them all on the fly and go to arrangement after to work on some changes u wanna make or just to give it its finish
at the end i found it takes much more time for me going this way, so i went to the other option writing my track in arrangement view from the beginning, like i did in cubase before. (i think like one does with mostly any daw of your choice , so nice option ableton offers there).
for playing live and get back the ability of the second option (switching all this stuff on the fly) i just drag my clips/loops/shots from the arrangement back to clipview and go for it.
find out what u like most
and i agree starting with an intro is not that comfortable. i do this most time at the end after i finished all other stuff.....
cheers

firstable i get an idea!! then i write down in a paper, so then i imagine i figure how i wanted, the structure of the song, the sample
the tone of the bass line and the parttern's changes and of of course the scale of the bass.. talking in music theory!!
now start for the intro...could start and if dont like it i change into the first parts of the beat... dont force !! anything!
if something dont make real, or can make it like you wanted change dont tire of brain and use energy forced some thing..!!! if could ber possilbe star to make some new track.. well this is what i do. just advice!!!

I've also difficulties to make tracks, because i'm not good enough at synthesis to make the sounds i imagine, and i find also difficultt to make good rythms and musical lines.
Isn't it better to try to copy tracks to learn ? |

What I really enjoyed and what taught me alot was to copy a track you really like. Try to make it the same arrangmentwise. Don't worry about using the exact same sounds.
And try not to listen to your track many many times. The less the better, although you sometimes need to listen to the whole track to get a feel of the flow. |

maybe try to make some synth banks, samples pack ,to not mix too much making music and production, when you start from nothing it sure take a lot of time and make things harder |

I open up a project and mess around with sounds, samples, fx with everything i can and many a times stumble/come up with amazing results. I get overwhelmed and keeping time in mind i save them with another name or with some kinda extension(-1,2)...
Now here's the problem. I open up the file again after a couple of days n i look at the mess and phew... my head start spinning. I cant seem to continue. dont know where to start.
options i will consider now:
1. roll a phat one
2. work out a skeleton
Or Maybe like someone said in the previous page. Dont take urself too seriously...heheh... (i realized i was)
