sae course is for sound engineerring man, which does not really focus on the music production aspect, midi is just a part of the entire course, so doing the whole course for a year would be a waste i think, any other options??

if somebody who produces psy trance can help me out, i would be more than glad...

take care
cheers

it sort of depends what experience you have with music. if you play any instruments or have studied music this can be useful in terms of realising how a song is actually structured!

however, the best thing to do in my opinion is to get hold of a relatively easy to use program - Fruityloops for example - and just experiment.

you might find that you're not really into producing (which i doubt very much ) in which case paying for a course would be a waste!

playing around with beats & sounds is a great way to get to grips with the essential elements of production: how different instruments / sounds fit together as part of a track, how to get the best out of your plugins, EQing and mastering, etc.

yeah, i know i need to practice on my own, but i am really interested in electronic music production, i am a trained dj, djing since past 3 years, and now i wanna focus to production, but i dont know how to go about, if only somebody could show me around how to use softwares like cubase, reason etc.
then i could get a hang of the production aspect, otherwise doing a course is the best option i guess, but in india there are no courses for electronic music, UK has many, so i am thinking to go to UK, only if nobody here helps me out..
waiting for replies..
cheers

first thing you need for making trance is a good computer.,

then you need a sequencer.,

then you lock your self in your house and read the manuals and start experimenting.,.,

repeat this for a couple of years and you'll be an elecronic musician

It's also nice to have some people around you who are also making music, because you will learn a lot faster when you exchange information and work together.

Well, if you get together with those friends and start producing, each will find out new ways of making sounds. When you share those and are honest to eachother about the stuff that sucks, it should work out.

SAE or a music academy is nice, but remember: no new genre of music has ever been invented at those schools, it's just educating you in the music from the past. It could be very good for pointing out the things to look out for when making music and it's probably wonderful for your production skills, but you won't learn how to make psychedelic kick ass sounds from the future and it might even slow you down in that aspect.

djparanormal .. first select a software that you want to use .. make sure you have a decent computer .. then, RTFM .. and learn the software in and out .. and then move on to next one ..

highly recommend reading messages on forum, talking with other producers, reading any articles that you can find on the web ..

and practice a lot .. you'll realize that you get better with each track .. isn't that neat ?!

love and light,
