Hello fellow friends! I have a little bit of a question concerning building and arranging your tracks in your chosen DAW, particularly cubase... How do you structure everything? The reason i ask is because ive made small 1-2 min loops in cubase (ive only worked with it for about 5-6 months) any tips would be REALLY appreciated thanks! peace n' plur.

My recipe:
1. Create folder and name it "All"
2. Create Subfolders under "all" and name them "Kickbass" "Percs" "HH" "Melody" (something)
3. Move your tracks to right folders
4. Expand all folders, select all tracks and cut with scissors your sections (note that you'll have to open all folders so u can cut tracks, at least i have to in cubase 5.1)
5. Close folders so u can see only one folder "All" and start to cut and paste how u like
6. Profit.
Note that if u have midi tracks, then cutting needs more attention to them because of the real-time playing of vst.
Cheers! (So hot in here!) |

I'm in the same boat as you. I create a simple loop and it doesn't go anywhere. But what I've found out that if you loop a song you like, you'll see that its almost the same thing. Except they have more of these two minutes loops (expand of course with more modulation).
What really makes the track flow is the transitions. Basically making a transition can add more flow and polish on your tracks. Take a track you like and listen to the transitions, try to imitate those. This has helped me flow from one part of the track to the next.
