In my understanding what a vocoder does is , distribute the incoming signal(carrier) into multiple bands (so u have the 4,8,16,32bands) which are essentially bandpass filters consisting of all the frequecies. Each of the carrier bands are modulated by a synth waveform such as a sine or saw , ramp... this eventually gives the unique effect, some allow the use of multiple modulators . When there is no modulator the vocoder will act like a multiband equalizer . The virus ti vocoder actually adds some color or subtle harmonics to the source audio when it is used this way...all this credited by its ad/da converters which improved from previous versions? ..call it mojo but all vocoders may not really work this way , i have a roland vp vocoder and it can give other results..
The virus ti has some nice controls to play around with the bands and this is where you can find the sweet spot , cant be very specific because i sold mine a while back and thought of sharing this idea which i think many producers might be using (or a similar concept) as a secret weapon on their tracks lol.

I had some glitches in my tune the other day, thought it was a soundcard issue. Reinstalled the drivers, deleted some preferences, but nothing helps. And then i noticed that i just forgot to bypass 8 instances of Buffer Override on my master channel, another one of those "Tip of the day!" things from Isratrance forum.
