i installed it last week...i got no problems so far. everything is running smooth (even smoother than before).
but i installed a normal version of winxp for internet, games also...dual boot is a good thing.
just make different partitions for each win version... |

I still think Tiny version 2 is the best!
But it's easy to make your own with Nlite, so why not personalise your Tiny XP to your own needs!

This is just my opinion but are not computers powerfull enough to easily handle the FULL windows xp pro now? It can be a pain in the ass to re-boot everytime u wanna game...or watever, i use a firewall and full winxp all on one daw/machine, so i can surf the web and make music at the same time..
well anyway thats just what i do. I find it more productive if i dont have to dual-boot, others will disagree. |

First of all not everyone uses computers that are overpowered, and in that case tweaking is essential.
On my main desktop I rarely use more then 25% CPU, but I have four other computers which do not have the same power, and using nLite really helps in keeping them useful.
And even on my quad core desktop, using nLite results in a system that is much more responsive.
I never had a problem with TinyXP when it comes to gaming or using the Internet.
On my laptop for live use I have a XP install that takes some 30MB of ram and have 5 services running, and networking and Internet works fine even on that, and I bet most games would as well.
I would also recommend to use nLite yourself instead. TinyXP does many times have issues that can be very annoying and impossible to resolve without reinstalling and that doesn't help performance and only are done to preserve some HD space.
For example a lot of services is removed from the install, which means that if you for some reason need one of those one day they cannot be installed. Instead I prefer to set services I don't need to disabled...then they do not take up any CPU or RAM resources but can be activated if needed.
Also I had a few nuisances like not being able to use right-click to add tracks or videos to the playlist of Foobar or VLC...it just brings up some copy dialogue for each item I try to add.
If you have good knowledge of windows you can make a heavily tweaked system with just the stuff you need using nLite, but otherwise nLite is still easy to use and as long as you are careful it still brings a lot of advantages.
Probably there are some tweaks you do like to employ, like using classic start menu, remove unnecessary effects like menu fades, disable some services, show file extensions, e.t.c.
It's faster to do that in nLite than digging around in XP after install and you get a nice unattended install so you don't have to sit around to enter serial, localization settings and so on.
And it's nice to be able to include drivers needed for your system as well as commonly used software, like for example FF, Thunderbird, Pidgin and Skype.

I have had it on my laptop for a month or so now. It works like a charm. I get alot more ressources and I like to work in the old XP look.
