Thanks for that tutorial work4acid..I don't want to partition my harddisk though. I already have all my samples & projects on an external harddisk.
I just want to save the hassle of reinstalling all the plugins again so i want to backup my laptops' hard drive with a software that allows me to restore to it easily..I don't want to have to use an additional software to boot so i'm looking for a one-in-all solution that allows backups & restores..
Have you ever tried Acronis True Image? I'm thinking of giving this a try as i read some good reviews about it..

Yep this is what I use, its very stable very reliable, compression is quick and with no error. I strongly recommend it.
I also recommend to download the latest mini pe.
Its a bootable cd of a very light version of windows running on the ram only. It has a number of software on it, like hardisk tool ect......
one of them is acronis true image.......
get it you wont regret it (make a search on a torrent search engine. its not a commercial product.) |

Cool, i just tried out Acronis True Image, maybe you can help me out with this..
I made a boot CD with Acronis & backed up my hard drive to an external hard disk.
Now suppose a couple of months later my pc starts to slow down & i want to format it, how will i go about it?
Do i put in the windows xp cd first and delete & format the partition with it & then restart with the Acronis boot cd & restore my pc?

Think about this, your XP on your laptop suddently dies, but you have a DVD with all your stuff ready for imaging, also with the portability of a DVD. (i never tried this one althoug)

Yeah, I once did something like it.. But it was image of a hard, rather it was like this tiny XP.. I made XP extra lite, about 200 megs, and burned cubase and all my favourite vsts onto one cd.. Windows was installed with a click of the mouse and it was all setup for audio production.. I also included drivers I needed..
Now, I wonder, how would I make another version like that, only on DVD and I want all VSTs and programs to install with a click of a button.. Would image be best for that? I have acronis enterprise so its not a problem.. Or maybe should I do my own setup and include it on a dvd?
