I've been reading lots of posts around forum about this, scary stuff, definetelly gonna get some of those ear plugs!
I had a problem in left ear this summer, coulds hear like only 20% from that ear, it was mad, one of my worst experiences, and I was like that for like a month(until I went to doctor...), It was really weird, always had kind of the impression I was isolated from the world around me, no good

I don't think u can get this kind of earplugs on the net...U have 2 go 2 a specialized shop, because they make a mold of your ear...so it fits perfectly..bcause everybody has different ears...
They put in filters that can take out specific "Dangerous" frequencies...
If you are a DJ...and I mean...playing on really loud venues...and planning 2 go on with it...GET THOSE PLUGS !!! Have u got any idea, how much dB's your ears have 2 swallow, when u play a set of 6 hours ? Only 30 minutes in most situations is dangerous...
If you hurt your ears..it's most of the time permanent damage...there's no way back !!!!
And, ehh...if u think they're 2 expensive ?
What's worth more?!?!?!

Ok
For all you predeaf people, a very good advice:
1)After a "Hard sound dosage"
2) Play a Wagner or any classic music CD
3) Turn the volume knob all the way down to -infdB´s
4)Start turning it on very slowly till you reach your hearing threshold.
5) Then lower it a little bit
6) Then Literally "Make your best effort in hearing and understanding the recording".
7) Then go to sleep
8)USE PLUGS IN PARTIES!!! Dont WASTE your brains because of your ears (unless you consider yourself psyBeethoven... |

I got tinnitus since ehm, well I suppose it is 3 or 4 years back now. Wear earplugs at technoparties, you might else regret it one day. I do. Damn you Andreas Kremer
I have learned to live with it though, so it is not too horrible anymore.. Once you get used.. Ciaoo! |

Severe ringing is the symptom of tinitus.
Tinitus has several causes:
1. the little hairs in your ear have been pushed back by tloud noise, which makes them continually stimulate the auditory cortex of your brain, so you brain thinks it hears noise... PEEEEEEEEEEP. This can go away if the hairs move back into place
2. or the hairs are not pushed in, but your brain just for whatever reason thinks it is receiving audio signal, this type can go away since there is notthing really wrong with the ear physically. Listening to white noise at night helped a freind of mine, who had this type, and he has no ringing now.
I get ringing ears after big parties and DJ-ing with headphones too loud, but it always goes away, am more careful now, many artists get ringing ears, must take care not to become permanent.

everytime i mix a high pitched sound i have to ask my girl if it hurts her ears and if it does i work on it until it's bareable .

I had it for a couple years, either it went away or I got so used to it that I dont hear it anymore. During that period I had a weird side effect where I could hear electronics; i.e. if an electronic device was on, I would hear the frequency of the ringing change. It really freaked me out, I am very careful now. Learn to dj at low headphone volume, resist the urge to blast it out in your studio (as colin said, if it sounds good at low volume, it will sound good at high volume), and dont get too close to the speakers at parties.
