hey there everyone!!
recently i have damaged my left ear whilst having a session way too loud on the hr824s.
i damaged my cochlea around the 8000khs range, and as a result i have constant tinitis!!
as you could all emagine this is quite devostating,
does anyone else suffer from tinitis?
how do you cope?
how does it effect youre music?,and does mixing make it worse, even if you mix at low levels?
would apreciate some advice, and to hear youre story,
cheers!!
take care of youre ears, because life without trance is very disheartining

Sorry to hear about this =(
i my self also get a bright ringing tone in my ears now and then, it´s a bit irritating, i try to rest my ears as much as possible and i dont listen to much music on minidisc or freestyle any longer when im going out somewhere, all just to rest my ears as much as possible...
yes, im wasting my ears on music and mostly my own. but a nice trance party is hard to say no to, and i dont like earplugs coz they make my ears hurt.
it´s good to lower the volume before you work with such things as disortion, compression and all kinds of other FX that can boost the signal, you never know whats going to happen to the sound. just a advice to all you new ones who are fiddeling with settings you dont know so much about.... iv hade my share and now i try to think twice before i do such tasks, but it can happen to anyone when you least expect it and then it might do real damage to your ears =(

I had this after one party, had a fucking loud beep in my ear for 3 days..
The first night I had to turn on the radio to sleep.
It spooked me as hell... Maybe I should get ear plugs as well?

Thats bad
For two years i am not going into clubs now, because the music is always too loud.
Cant understand that.
But on OA you can go away from PA, listen to music with loudness you want to listen. And fresh air is cool too, I really dont like hanging around in dark, dirty and smelling rooms and hall, anymore. |

Really sorry to hear about your damaged hearing DMA... that's got to be the worst. I was 90% deaf in one ear and 50% deaf in the other for a few months last year cos of earwax; the stuff was right against my eardrum and I had a constant ringing because of it. Even now I've had it all cleared out I still have a very small constant tone in my right ear... not enough to affect anything (I can't hear it most of the time) but it's there, and when I'm listening to silence, I can hear 'eeeeeeeeeeeee...' very clearly.
Avoid loud music if you can; wear earplugs at parties. When making music, take frequent breaks. The louder you listen to music, the shorter time you should listen to it. Making music quietly is actually a very good idea in general; if you can hear everything when the music is quiet you can be sure it'll sound good loud - the reverse is not necessarially true. If it hurts, STOP! When you DJ, swap ears with your headphones with each track - it's not that hard when you get used to it.
