So...beginning late May (official starting date and place to be decided) I and my kindered mates will set sail...well, as close as we can get on land

I have acquired a fully functional, gutted, veggie converted (with about a 2500 mile tank), rolling, pimping, early 80's model Greyhound Bus

I figure that, RELATIVELY comfortably (if privacy is your thing, think hard about this), we can sleep 10 working, breathing, thriving human beings. Among this group, there will be several specialized positions (driver, grunt cook, mechanic, etc) that will have to be filled by qualified and willing individuals, as well as several cyclic duties that we'll all share (aside from cleanliness, which is of supreme consideration~)that will range from dj to drivers companion to shaman... So, as much as I'd like this to be first come first serve, there does need to be some cohesiveness and assured competency within the group, and it is for this reason that I am announcing this project early, to build a conversation and eventually a community of PARTICIPANTS and REGIONAL SUPPORTS...one will not likely work without the other...tribe or the like soon to follow

Where to? Well, I want to develop this both as a TOUR and as a COMMUNITY that will be as 1.sustainable as possible 2.exemplary of human engineuity as the music that will provide our psychic fuel throughout the trip 3. FLEXIBLE. What this means is that, through establishing a planned route and a support network along that route, we can form our own timetables, length of trip (and by this I mean that if you wish to disembark at some point of the trip, we'll have a plan to pick up your slack!!!), philosophy, and inevitably, music!

Mission and method---When this seed of an idea sprouted in my head, I imagined a rolling, self-sustaining,eco-friendly,creative,resourceful group of people traveling the country with stops at major and minor psychedelic festivals and points in between...obviously this has blossomed into a bit more, but I want the core motive for the group to remain this....to travel the landscape as artists and humans with the intention of creating ingenuity in application and theory with major destinations being loosely affiliated with gatherings of like minded people and artists. We will support ourselves both by setting up vending and other services at destination festivals, possible e-commerce possibilities, and initial investment to be shared by the group (i'll start, initial amount disclosed to serious inquiries)

Echo, or, like...whatcha think?

I'd need more specifics, but even if I don't travel with you or become a part of the Time Travelers, I would certainly like to know next year at what gatherings you might roll into so as to meet up with you all and say hi.

I happen to be a professional driver with a fully endorsed driver's license, clear driving record, and just renewed medical card. Moving heavy things is what I do besides drive, so that would help in those two areas. I also have a jack of all trades kind of knowledge of things. Making music is something I know very little about, though I'd be up for learning a thing or two.

There's lots of specifics to how your plan might play out. I am planning on moving to Colorado in a couple of months. This move will leave me without a job and free to travel, but February would seem to be way too early to be busing around the country in search of outdoor festivals. I joined your tribe.net tribe. I am thinking that you'll fill in some topics with details of the various aspects. I started one. Just asking about the launch point, though I imagine it could just start at your house and you pick up people as you travel.

I am curious as to how this will be financed. A charge to join, or share in cost, or are you paying for everything? Or are you just paying for the bus and related transportation costs (fuel, maintenance, licensing), while the rest of us will fend for ourselves? This last option would obviously be the easiest way to attract people to join. You might hire people for various duties too. Driving is what I do. If it's going to be a community project, that would be something I can contribute. There are rules for driving buses, but for private buses a lot of them will not apply. In trucking there's these things called "Hours of Service". I'm not sure about bus drivers for hire. The size and weight of the vehicle has a lot of baring on the rules concerning who can drive it, though for some reason buses and their drivers don't have near the rules that truck drivers have to deal with. If this bus and how you're planning on using it doesn't qualify for these restrictions, that'd make it real easy. People could just take turns driving it. Have you checked into what is required of the driver to legally drive your bus? Will a regular driver's license be enough? I live in California and we have all sorts of laws about driving vehicles here. Many other states aren't so pent up about it, but many things have changed since October 3rd, 1993 and also September 11th, 2001 especially when crossing state lines.

It seems your "Where to" paragraph addresses many of my questions, so I think I'll just wait for more input to flow in. Good luck on this. It can be an amazing adventure or one costly journey into oblivion.

I'd like to be a part of this!

Is there a collective meeting soon?
