Iboga Records are proud to present another teaser for the upcoming Ticon album, to be released on Iboga Records.
Ticon is undoubtedly one of the biggest acts to come out of the Swedish progressive scene in the last 10 years. With 4 highly acclaimed albums on the legendary Swedish label Digital Structures, they played a huge role in influencing and defining the sound of the progressive trance scene - from the early psychedelic sounds of their debut album "Rewind" to the marvelous techno/electro/progressive house/trance crossover style on their last album "2 AM", released in 2008.
A new album is almost ready to hit the shelves, and this digital download release is a teaser to the new treat the Swedish duo has been cooking. Two tracks fusing the best of progressive house and trance, and with two equally great remixes by Israeli Eitan Carmi/Deeper (aka Fatali) and Danish duo Phony Orphants.
Tracklist:
01. Ticon - A Sucker For Weekends
02. Ticon - A Sucker For Weekends (Eitan Carmi Remix)
03. Ticon - Magneta Drive
04. Ticon - Magneta Drive (Phony Orphants Remix)

The PO remix is the one for me here, awesome track! The original of Mgneto Drive is cool as well.
Sucker for Sundays is a good track as such if it would have come out a year or two ago, but if i ever have to hear clicking type of groove again I`ll die of click-groove overdose. As people like Janis Joplin, John Belushi and Jimi Hendrix would tell you if they were still in a state of being that would allow them to talk, too much of a good thing can be quite harmful. And with the click groove, I`m one aural injection away from OD`ing and rolling around on the floor with blood dripping out of my ears.

Well, with click groove i mean that groove/rhytm/whateveryouwannacallit that "A sucker for weekends" is based on that i seem to hear everywhere these days.
It first originated in a very stripped down and dirty form in minimal techno and then got pumped up and modified for prog. house and that more banging commercial techno a la Koen Groeneveld. The first one to bring it into the psy-related scene was D-Nox&Beckers, particularly with the Paperboy remix.

Anyways, IMHO this groove is as old and flabby and sucked as dry and empty as a 98-year old paraplegic billionaires penis is after a meeting with Anna Nicole Smith.

Boring... There is or there was much more interesting similar stuff around.. I won't say I like this just because it's made from Ticon.. Liked the Phony Orphants rmx much more groovier and deeper tune than the rest tracks.
As for Ticon they where one of my favourite projects from their beginning till Texas Magnusson EP which were their last tunes I deeply like. After that nothing special, maybe a couple of interesting tracks but nothing "WOW!!!"
