Hi all TI geeks out there=)

I just wonder...when i have finished my track and want to do the final mix and all...how do I do if i have like 7 different synths on the TI.

I can add Reverb and delays n stuff(FXs) from the TI i know..But if i want to use external EQ to the different synthlines..Do you bounce the trax? Cause Its only possible to use three different trax for mixing...hmm

So would be grateful for some hints here...whats your routine?

thx Peace!

Yea i thougt that would be the easiest way..but after i eq..maybe i realise i need less reverb on it;) maybe its better to use an external reverb then..but then maybe it changes the character of the sound i had ,,hmm..maybe i make an easy thing more complex than it is..haha

no youre right to that
maybe you just have to decide is the sound and the fx fit to the mix and the vibe, if not work on them more
you could also record a couple of tracks that you are sure about the fx and sound and work more on the rest of the tracks, maybe change some reverb parameters to fit better etc and record them as well after some work
else you could always record dry as you said and use an external reverb plugin, but Virus reverb is really good and distinct in comparison to other plugins, use the same one imo

I make up to three TI sounds at a time on MIDI, each in their own separate channel.

I have a plugin chain on each one with EQ being first 99% of the time.

When I have then sounding the way I want to and the automations the way I want to, I bounce them to wav and start over.

To bounce with time FX is always tricky.....
Best way is almost always to bounce dry..

But you can always bounce one dry and one wet... then you have the choice to do as you wish
But when it comes to special FX you must bounce with FX on

Record the dry sounds, then record only the returns from the FX. EQ and mix them as you please when you're mixing the track down, ennit.

If you plan on playing live you can choose to play around with FX on the sounds

if you want to be very detailed when adding FX you need time to tune them...

If you want to loop the sounds it might be hard with delay or reverb on them..

thats why i think its the best way to Bounce them dry, but its a compromise, sometimes its not the best way.. but i think i said so

When I was making music in a full hardware studio, I had FX units, the Eventide Eclipse, Lexicon MPX-1 and a Lexicon MPX-100. 3 different reverbs were enough for the breakbeat tunes I was making in 2003, but the Eventide's algorithms were proper lush. So I would make a synth patch on my good ol' Doepfer/Analog Systems modular, put that through the Eventide or MPX-1, added FX and reverbs and when the time came to use different FX (and different synth part...the Doepfer/A.Sys modular is monotimbral, mono and has no memory), I would record as audio the dry synth sound, then record as audio the returns from the FX outboard and mix the dry and FX/return audio channels in Logic.
Working like that was pretty time consuming, but it was the most flexible way for the mixdown + I had just the returns channels to reverse, stretch sidechain the fuck out of...etc.
