Hello there.....
imagine that we gonna compresse the bass and i have my bass peaking at -9 db... there is somme logic about the value that we have to put threshold??? for sure we have to put im below -9 db for the compressor work......

Wen you adjust the threshold value what you "thing"..about......

sorry the bad english...
thanks....

the threshold is set according to the level of the signal you want to compress and its differences in dynamics.
first you ask yourself..why do you want to compress the bass!
different threshold will set how much you want to compress. how low the compressor will do its job.
the higher the threshold, compression will have more depth and not just adjusting high peaks but youll need also to correct ratio & envelope setting.

Unless you use a soft knee compressor which starts to react below the threshold.

The sound. There are no fast and easy rules. It all depends on what the bass line sounds like uncompressed and what sound you are trying to achieve.

this has been discussed here a zillion time, you should look at the mother of all BASS thread.

But basically, if your bass is peaking at -9db, you should look at the level of the lower bass notes. How loud are they? -12db? -10db? You see, if you want to use compression, it's probably because you want the levels of all bass notes to be the same. Then if the lowest notes are at -12db, that's your threshold, with a ratio around 3:1 (since the peak is at -9db). But as Shahar stated, it depends on why you want to compress your bass.

peace
