here u go. I've made a small sample loop here. the first 3 bars (of 4 beats) are with a bass made just by 16ths... u'l notice its more weak and clicky, the other bars consequently i use the same bas, no changes at all in the eq or stuff, but mdivided the 16ths into 3 1/96 making always the third one a bit longer. every bar have diferent order of the 3 notes. some are in chord way, other are on the same note, so that u can percieve the diference it can be obtained, without having to use diferent bass patches. for me using this small 3 notes makes the bass more thight, more intense. the sample here is a 5min work so dont complain about bad eqing and stuff ehehe its just an example.
I've used ES1, logic compressor with sidechain and a low cut on the 50hz for the bass. the kik has nothing. its just a wav, sample. no aditional eq. than both are redirected to a bus, and there i've aplied the waves Rcomp, with a lil treshold, opto, smooth. thats it.
let see some opinons

Sorry but it doesnt sound good or interresting at all.
The thing that all the really fast and short notes add is a extra click and more unstabilty/less tightness. If you want a more clicky sound you might as well program it in your synth patch.

It's all click. I don't really like it.

I honestly thought you were talking about something different.

pieces. also as they are 3 1/96 there s enough room to make the last note a bit longer so this envelopes can evolve.

hehehehe

Not quite. The envelope is applied to each individual note, so putting a slightly longer note at the end would give that note some presence/harmonic content/etc.., but not the previous notes.

Anyway, not my cup of tea

...as usual ppl dont read...

i told this is not an equalized bass line, or the invention of the hot water, ok? u should just compare the notes from the first 3 bars with the rest!!! sure this line dont fit for a trak!!! just compare how a bass note changes from being used as 1/16 and as a joint of 3 1/96.especially on the 4th bar, this is after 12 beats ok? this is the only goal of this example!!!!

repeating, this is just a BASE for further experimentation! i wont post here complete bassline, u'll here it on complete and finished traks of mine. and sure this is just for the night orientated music, where the experiment can flow.. not some clasical, boring and reused fullonish basslines...

and so that the ppl that cannot read here are the images of the midi so that nobody is confused.

here u see 3 notes with the last larger, suficiently long to develop

and here in chord way:

if u equalize properly your bassline, if u tweak properly your synth, u'll get a very intense and tight bassline. (repeating, this is not the case with the bassline from the example..)

I quite like stuff like this.

You can have fun if you use a bass note as long as a bar, get the old sidechain working and lfo the shit out of the pitch and cutoff with a little resonance. You get the fast rapid thing going on but you arent waiting for envelopes so you have constant push.

You can make this sound both very nice and very, very evil .

D-Alien, low down the shit you're smoking man...I think 1/256 does great work, especially when you're writing music in 500 bpm...Best regards,Palikaris

I don't get it.
Are we talking about 1/96th note length or 3 X 1/96th which is the same as 75 % of the length of a a 1/16th note.

That's what I use, right in between 1/16 and 1/32 length.
Which gives me just enough punch and dynamics.
