Has anyone got any ideas about how the Thomas Penton and Vengeance kicks are made?
I don't think they basic sine waves.
Thanks in advance. |

Or maybe sine waves layered with real kickdrum sounds. Most of them have kind of an organic feel to them, which is nice.

imho a lot of the vengeance samples are layerd.
For example a lot of the open hihats have white noise in it..
But for the Kicks imho the moste are recorded..

@avduka
the penton kicks are phat, the complete collection is very nice, nice hats and percussion also..
but you can use them in prog trance, prog house i would say... not the nicey full on kicks around if thats what you look for..
don´t get me wrong the drums are phat and i use them in prog psy tunes... they rock. but not suitable for full on tracks..
also the vengeance samples are more in the hard house / hard trance direction from what i have heard myself...
haven´t found a nice sample collection with "typical" plastic knocking wobbling psytrance drums....
if somebody knows one i would be pleased to hear so... |

Hm..i use Rob Papen Blue for my kicks..just search for percussion presets and start on one of them..some vintage compression and eq and there you got..its nice cause you can really tune it according to your tempo and harmonic structure..

The Thomas Penton kicks can work fine for psytrance, all you have to do is put a little pitch envelope on them to get that "thwip" or "pock" sound. Other than that there are ones that sound nice and punchy, so they work fine.
Thomas Penton gave me a copy of the 24bit version when he played a show here a few years back. From what I'm told he's working on another one but it's all going to be hand drums.

You can search this forum, especially the mother of all kick drums...or something like that, we had plenty of good kicks for full-on
