This is a small collage of sound that I made using other artist's songs. These are all released tracks...pretty well known artists that I respect very much...

I think it's pretty obvious. My opinion is that it sounds cheesy and boring and overused to hear the same terrible preset in at least 4 different songs by artists who have already proven themselves to be competent sound designers and musicians...Yeah, they have the choice to choose what they want to use but it is pretty obviously hardly touched at all...I dunno maybe I thought if people could hear them side-by-side it would make you think twice about leaving a preset how it is, especially a pre-sequenced melody preset.. I mean... come on...

copy vs. paste - presets rull!

remember the way from preset to full GOOD track is very long

i admit sometime i open preset and its good so i use it , cant care less if its used or not..

btw some of the major electronic music sound like factory presets and its all down to what u do with it.. otherwise why they pay someone to make banks etc.

i sometime feel like making presets when i explore synths , and sometime just want to make simply a tune and then i dont care if its presets , specialy when its awsome presets like zta3 ,fm8, albino, nexus (well not much u CAN do on this one) , and not to mention offcourse mighty bassliner trilogy... didnt u always thought how cool it will be to go to studio and record live drumer ? i did , and realize i got 20 gig of loops made just that way so why to waste time in re-doing it..

there are certain sounds i don't like to use because they are just everywhere... e.g. lfo pitchbent, hi-passed, detuned saws; or 'rising' synth lines. but you can take this thinking too far and it quickly becomes artificial - for a long time i tried not to use any splash cymbals either

but be realistic; are you ever going to get rid of portamento sounds? no, and who would want to! it's like Mendelssohn telling violinists to stop using vibrato because it features in every violin piece

This topic is IMO ridiculous.
People should use exactly the sounds/samples/presets that they like and fells fit in their track.
If people don't linke the tracks, then stop listening to them instead of weeping like this....

Hi, i had't listened at those tracks before, besides i think it is not the same preset, and it is not that annoying.

You should be producing instead hehe, what's next you gonna ask people to stop using acid lines?

The topic should be titled: I won't leave this preset alone.

Just let it be and create your own.

PS. would you send me the preset? hehehe JK

bro, you gotta think that:

A. There are alot of people doing trance (not to mention electronic music) that are not into synthesis and exploring the boundaries of sound, they put much more emphasis on their structures / arrangements for example...

B. there is a limited amount of presets in existence (100 or so popular VSTi/AU/Hardware synths, from Access Virus to Steinberg VB1) and most of the presets doesn't suit (imho) psytrance anyway. You are bound to meet the same preset again and again just because of statistics.

C. In the last 10 years, we started downloading music from Internet, this made (most of) us have HUGE libraries of music in our hard drives and on DVDs or MP3 players. Today every average Joe/Joanna has few hundreds of albums at the very least in his/hers disposal, when you're exposed to so much music, again, you are bound to meet familiar sounds, production technics and yes, presets too.

I don't think there's anything to worry about here, there is still sooo much good music to discover (and create ) and spread...

It's definitely not something that I lose sleep over, just thought it was pretty funny to listen to in a row.

but it's okay you are still not going to convince me to lower my standards

its like saying to all rock bands out there: dont use electric guitars anymore cause they all sound like electric guitars. and turn off those distortion pedals too... they are too much alike....
oh and if your already at it why dont we take the drummers snare drum... you know what ? lets just get rid of the drummer...

now, did that make any sense what so ever ?           if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

My dear Zoopy.
I very much hope you are not losing sleep on the subject
And I didn't even started to think in the direction of convincing you to lower your standards, god forbid.
All I said was, yeah man, be good, forget the shite, there's so much of it around anyway, think what would have happened if you liked Club Trance.......

All the best man, it is indeed an amusing example of how not to make music....           YEEEEES!
