To get sich prog basslines it needs experience and time, trust my I tried really long and eventually stopped because I now make other genres I like more, nonetheless I try from tiem to time and get better

anyway here what I think they do(if they use sylenth1):

all 4 osc...saw wave, 1 or 2 osc can have different waves, like square...all 8 voices, all on retrigger

filter on A: AB + LP (12 or 24db it's taste) and cutoff nearly totally closed or totally closed

fliter on B: BA + "same as A"

then AMP env: decay about half, this is taste but not to long...sustain half of the decay at least, some more release so the it has a really really small tail (attack 0)

then mod env, cutoff AB....attack zero, short decay, shorter sustain and longer release, env amount relatively high

and then it comes what really makes this basses so fat and crispy, processing

that's where I'm still experimenting...distortion definitely, the sylenth foldback with lower than 50% wet and amount after taste, this gives the short decay stab a nice definition and crunch

then dunno, saturation, eq on lowend etc etc...I have no idea how they do it, maybe tape saturation plugins...I guess they all use some of the bigger names plugins

cut out the bass at about 250hz a little bit with (bell) eq to remove some mud

maybe resample the bass and shape it in audio than back in sampler

apply compression with a longer attack so that the transient gets not squashed but everything after the transient gets louder due to the compression (short release in comparison to the attack, shorter better off to say)

if you have more than one note between the kick, like in your example, play with the velocity of the notes which are linked to the volume of the synth(or sampler if you resampled it) to get a groove into your bassline this is very important

that's it, there is more to say, these basses are small science, in general prog needs alot of experience in soundesign and processing (or good presets that you can tweak to your taste some more) I'd say

maybe something to add:

the mod env, a longish decay (about half or so, just try) and not so big env can be even better, because to much highs that come with the pluck sounds strange, better you reduce the amount and shape with distortion and get some more overtones this way           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

don't need really alot of osc's hammering away. just 1 or 2 1 with a lpf (with filter env.) on the saw wave adjusted to taste. with some nice warmth, distortion/over drive and good eq and compression.

whats really key here is the note lengths, compression amount, and what is really really crucial in big basslines like this- EQ!! it takes alot of time to get good at it. but with time and practice it will be there before you know it!

EDIT: try the use of a sine sub bass (again eq and tweaking is your friend) it really can help make progressive trance basslines big and deep!

oi, I was just messing around with zebra fm synthesis and it looks like it is also good for prog basses, yuno some lately bass like prog bass this is actually pretty close I'd say

in fact, do you know these blue tunes one note offbeat basses that sound a little bit like there is a guitar in it? FM synthesis I say

Well, a little touch of drive and perhaps a phaser with no LFO is a quick tip on how to get a fat sound.
But the frequency range gets quite large so you need to EQ it properly. . . not HEAVY but in the right places.

This bassline has as Fakso said really low decay, and high cutoff as well, sound gets really thin and rubbery usually at such high cutoff. But this type of bass isn't really that hard to do.            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.
