Dunno if it is some problem in my brain but i can't get to make this percs line, seems pretty simple , the 4/4 kick, the open Snare on every other kick, the offbeat ophat, its those hats in between that make me scratch my head, maybe in not hearing it right dunno, how do u guys see it?

this is a try i made, not there yet

try a shaker loop, or do your own, bitcrusher can help, to make it more crispy, and a bit of swing can helps to.

Dá-lhe ;)

cheers

sidechain the closed-hats/shaker/tambourine to the Kick. and yes, either use some swing/groove, or nudge those samples a bit of the grid. or even, delay that track a couple of ms with track delay/sample delay. bit crush could bring out the metalic texture, maybe to up front for my taste, if to much go the paralel processing way

Also, a good trick is feed only one side of the stereo spectrum of your high hats into a simple delay, without any feedback (so, only 1 echo), 100% wet and delay time somewhere between 2ms to 10ms, so the result is having one side delayed the the "very short" time you defined. This widens you hats out (a little to a lot, depending on the delay time), and brings them out - puts them a bit to the side.

You can also do that on other perc sounds, with different time settings, but like any production trick the trick is to not overdo it.

Another very cheap and dirty trick is use a delay, use a very simple pattern and use some off-timing on the delay, and then sample that MO-FO so it's a nice and consistent loop -> but this has been easily caught up by producers and, due to it's simplicity, considered just a newbie way of doing stuff. But hey, it does render interesting results!

Btw, both tricks are just mangling with time, such as a swing would do

most simple stuff is actually what newbies tend to overlook and get good results fast, so no problem there

on the snare beat, it's a subtle hipassed clap.

and if the hats are tuned. they will sound better.
