There was definitely a dubsteppy period, not interspersed throughout. This was probably the worst track of the whole 7 hrs, imo. There were a lot of other portions I would not consider psytrance, but were completely unlike anything I've ever heard-and truly genius to my ears. This track just sounded like fairly generic dubstep, and, like the other dubstep tracks he played, reminded me of Artem Zlobin's dubstep work in particular.
Although I think it's pretty decent, it wasn't anything forward-thinking to me, unlike most of the psytrance and other genre-smashing electronica he played. I'm hoping he continues in the direction of portions of the set consisting of a sequence of unfolding noises over insane ambient layering, weird beats, and extended vocal samples.
Great party, by the way.
ps - I was told yesterday that this year the Texas regional burn, Flipside, and the little decompression-style gathering afterwards, featured very little dubstep. http://soundcloud.com/herbert-quain

one more reason not to go to the festival in GA where he's playing.
i swear, i want to like him, but i just can't dig it. and now he plays tearout. horrible.
i do psytrance to avoid the tearout crowd.

Coolest thing here is , That the Track being played is not his own track. Im sure he was advertised as playing live.
There is no amount of reason that can convince me that is all fair play .
Anyways , Point here is simple . Psytrancers are outcasts (in ways) so they lack exposure. This means that whoever becomes psykovsky can very much play anything they want and ppl will just idol worship the fellow.ITs killa , Cos of the NAME factor.( Brand names are generally frowned upon in this same very scene . Bi-polarity , in yer face.)
U can change the name from psykovsky to infected but the story remains the same.
If anything This PROVES that psykovsy is a bit ahead of his game . He has identified what is up at the moment and moved on , Which this Community hates in general.
Wanna bet next infected mushroom album is gonna be dub step?
Psychedelic for me is an experience. Music can lend its flavor to the experience , and the music that does that the most , in my books is psychedelic.
Dubstep is 1000000% more psychedelic than reverse snare delay combo.
And psykovsky playing dub step only means one thing YIDA< , That its about time we know that this genre is dead. This music did bring in new techniques to write and produce music, But the life of 1 note baselines has come to an end.
