you know ... the trance of 1993 sound today like a
old goa and maybe even abit house . Time is past and new music is come . I saw in your list some artists that producing for many years , that start they way with a different style so maybe some time when we compare they old stuff its can be sound more like a cheap and old and far away tones but this is life pal the world is advanced . |

Term "real psytrance" doesnt exist imo. Every one perceive psytrance diferent. you can call it whatever you want, progression regression etc. Nowadays psy sound like it sounds, sometimes disco'tech. But it still psytrance!

disco
house started of as wut was left from disco
acid house...went on to bring techno trance and drum and bass and all other electronic dance genres we see to day including goatrance which evolved to psy trance as we all call it now...
i think it was only a matter of time tht disco made a come back ...
altogh i m not a big fn of it... its all got to do with evolution which is a never ending process..
basically i dont care about the new sounds tht r out nowadays ..i only hope tht we still get our dose of true psy sounds

In places where there are few and far in between listners I would prefer discoish music as then the uninitiated have a chance to be exposed to part psy music and if they develop a liking then the tribe grows and so too the culture!
I don't know if this adjustment is worthwhile? I guess only time will tell! |

sorry, this discussion seems like people are woundering about there freshest mp3 shared files. asking the musicians what they mean with this music, while they are the reason for this sound itself. as olly wisdom once said: this is the circle of life, you are all connected

I hope you wont be dissapointed
To me progressive house or some electro house, and the progressive scene too, are way more interesting and refreshing than most psy trance.
There are 2 reasons why I thínk that.
Reason one: The majority of people are a bit older and seem to go more for the love of the music than for the love of the chemicals. At least they do not promote drugs so openly as the psy scene is so famous for and you wont meet many Bom Shankar "We are all united in a higer state of consiousness" kind of attitude I personally have grown so tired of in the psy scene. No offense. It is just not for me.
Reason two: The music is way more evolving at the moment. And it is closer to what i call hypnotising music and if we look at tribal house it is 10 times more tribal and hypnotic than the majority of psy trance today. It is not stressed at 145+ bpm and there is room for experimenting and details.
Of course at the end of the day it comes down to taste but it is interesting to find many of the old Goa/psy artist and party people from around 1993 - 1998 now more involved in the progressive House scene than in the psy scene. |
