1967 Haight & Ashbury, SanFran the Pranksters, thousands of Hippies converge on the neighborhood and give birth to the movement. Twenty years later:
1988/9, London. Acid House is born, a second summer of love, free raves all over!
20 years later.....
2008. We're due. Here's a challenge, let's see where the third summer of love will be. It's about time, and only psy can lead the way. It can't be planned, it just has to happen, so here's my challenge to the heads. There's a great energy in the air, and people are bored with commercialized EDM. Oh you rainbow rangers and day-glo crazies, let's take it all out front, and raise the tie dye flag up high! Someplace will emerge from the pudding as the center of a new summer of love. Let's let it happen!

it already started dude...
the difference is, the movement will only continue to sustain itself if it is kept underground with clean energy. therefore, it will never reach the status reached by either of those waves, if it has or will ever become a true movement. that's the paradox. if it were to become a mass phenomenon, it would be ruined, and there are examples already of this. it's just so hard to make a big impact on a civilization which is evolving so rapidly and is so heavily influenced by capitalism.
also, both the waves you mentioned coincided with the introduction/popularization of groundbreaking mind-altering chemicals.
not that anyone should give up...just take a realistic approach.
and really, americans just don't get electronic music in general, yet. but maybe because of the weak dollar, more foreigners will be around to help shift that mentality.
this is happening already too.
opinions?

i doubt you will be able to have one large movement like this with everyone involved ever again. i dont think that will happen again. what I do know is that all over the world there are little scenes in very special places where you can get this feeling of unity. Like DanVapid said it's underground and its already happening. In India there places with this feeling of unity and connection towards the psy culture (and NO im not talking about Goa, Goa is not the place anymore, too much commercialism and tourism has take that vibe away, also too many crazy people that are all junked out on all kinds of non psychedelic drugs, GOA is now and ideal that exists only in our minds) But certain places in Himalayas and other parts of India have this good clean vibe there. Where there are just hippies and open minded people chilling out not really giving a fuck about the outside world, just enjoying their lives peacefully. And im sure India is not the only country with these places, theyre all over the world. So I dont think you should be hoping for a revival of the summer love, that wont happen. Instead you have to go out to right place and find it cause its already happening. And yes I do hope that Americans would start to understand electronic music more, or actually maybe it's best they didnt, we all know america has this tendency to take a good honest thing, put it through a machine, mass produce it, capitalize it and ruin it. I know there's a lot of open minded, non ignorant people in America and id like to see more of them at the psy parties in the states. AFter all america is where the orginal psychedelic culture developed, so where are all these people?!?! or did most of the psychedelicized americans just say fuck it after the 60's??. It's so rare to even meet anyone in the states who knows what psytrance is!! (unless youre at psy event)
