hey guys,
im not sure if i should buy one.
i hope you can help me further.
will it improve my sound or/and workflow...?
can i open more instances at the same time in my daw?
can i make nearly every sound with it?
(FM, cutting BP leads etc)
should i save up money for a virus ti desktop?
is 1000€ (1380$) ok for a snow or should i buy a second hand one (where)?
alot of questions gg

i love my Virus ti2 but the time ive spent getting it stable(if i knew in the beginning i would have never have bought it)
Wait for OS 5....imo
looks like new filters, new basic waveforms or emulations of a few classics andexponential envelopes and audio rate lfos.....but its just a rumour and access are tighter than a ducks arse when it comes to getting clues
its a bit of a jack of all trades and a master of none
check out a second hand blofeld
and get the Ctrlr Blofeld controller
http://ctrlr.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=605
tbh i would wait and see whats on the horizon
or just get a nord 2 and a good recording solution.....simplez

+1. Although audio rate LFOs sounds like a great update, hope they come through with that one.
Nice!
Peace out.

SERIOUSLY........right youve obviously got a hole in your pocket so before you blow your wad on something you are going to regret
DAW---Presonus Studio 1 ( we switched over to it a few months ago and havent looked back, best sound and workflow weve ever used..and weve tried them all)
Synth---Omnisphere (best vst EVER "FACT" sounds like real gear and the range of sounds you get from this synth is mind blowing...ASTRIX in a box)
which should leave you 350 euros to spend on
coke and hookers or monitors or room treatment or a controller or coke and hookers
trust me youll get a pro sound and wont be kicking your own arse in a few months

There are many good options to spend your money. I am really happy with my TI desktop and would definitely recommend it. A snow runs 1 midi channel i think but it can have more channels routed through that midi channel. So you can make more than 1 sound at the same time.

It's 4 part multitimbral, 1 analog and 3 digital outputs.
So with the Snow you can have 4 midi channels at the same time, with each channel being routed thru one of the 3 digital or analog outs.
But the analog output doesn't run in sync with your daw, so you'll basically end up with 3 digital channels to throw all kinds of fx on top. |

i think a virus could suit well your sound.. from the music i heard from you with the virus you will have lot of presets to use that you may find sound great... buy one second hand and resell if you dont like..
Blofeld seems great too but imo less suited for your sounds , and largo is suposed to sound just as good with better fx (dunno if it s true , but thats what guys that own both report on the net)
or maybe you could stick with sylenth and zebra and buy a culture vulture ,well i will tell you if it s a good choice mine should be there soon...
btw i never used the ti but from some producers i know it seems it s sound closer to a plugin than the earlier virus . a bit like the the nords.. the more recents the more it s seems closer to plugins sound from my very little experience with the g2. |

hey woodster,
the east west quantum leap pack always was a suducion for me, like a virus ti.
but i think the east west pack will be more profitable,
because there is so much in it (of corse other stuff then psy!).
and i always where looking for a virus ti too, because everyone says how nice it is. ("warmth...")
my monitors, roomtreatment, PC and controllers are more than adequate for my needs.
@PoM
nice empathic help from you as always, thanks.
so if largo is nearly the same league as the blofeld i wonder why i should go hardware hassle.
i tested largo for a very short time and didnt like it.
the culture vulture looks monster. how will you use it? on every sound you use? lol seems like a hassle too.
i like moviesounds and also produce shortclips etc...
and omnisphere looks really nice for this too.
people keep saying its really killer, i think it would be a smart decision.
i think i will stay with softsynths for now and try the omnisphere. maybe get the stormdrum 2 additional later.
thanks for taking the time guys, i appreciate it!
cheers

i won t use it for music that mutch it s for some sound design/ sample librairies works and sometimes in my mastering chain (i may replace the tubes for that aplication dunno yet)but yes you have to record all the sound you want to process.
it seems all hardware will be a pain for you to integretates in your workflow except maybe the ti with total integration |
