If I had to buy a synth less than $500 USD I would get an Alesis Micron..had one a couple years ago and it was pretty nice. Kinda hard to tweak, but its so much better than the Microkorg imo. If you can spend a little more, used Nord 2x.
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

Hi Conny
For bass i like to use anything really , from vst's like alien303 , z3ta , or albino. in hardware section i like to sample bass from the synths (seems the virus is great , still new to that one). the micro korg has the fattest bass i ever heard , suits more for longer notes sometimes tho..
I use FL as its extremely comfortable to work with hardware there

You are covered with bass and goa/squelchy leads with the sh-101. No other digital synth (including the Virus) comes close for saw basslines. The Nord lead would complement the sh-101 very well, as it is very digital sounding, yet bold. A used Lead 2 rack is quite cheap nowdays.

Thanx for your reply´s.I would like to have another synth mainly for bass .Im thinking about buying novation bassstation or an evlover which i can sync to a drummachine. The evolver is interessting cause it has a step sequencer.
Which hardware sequencer could i use with a novation bassstation ? Whish i could find a cheap step sequencer i could use.And with the possibility to change controller values like gate.

If you are looking for a good hardware step sequencer look to the Yamaha rs7000 http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/rs7000.shtml
If you're looking for a cheap but still capable relic from the past, see if you can find a used Alesis MMT 8 http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/mmt8.shtml
I honestly think that using a software sequencer even if you use all hardware otherwise would be a much better option. Editing will be so much faster in software.

Psylevation thanx for your reply,
I will check the Yamaha rs 7000 up it sounds interesting !
im kind of confused when it comes to producing. When i use a computer it´s difficult to get rytmic drums cause in software the drum programming is often (static) like in fruity loops. With a drummachine i can get a more rytmic feel of the drums .I think it´s difficult to make the drums sound good with a computer.
Best regards |

If you are concerned about your drums being static you could always pick up a drum pad like the Korg Padkontrol http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=414
Then you can play parts live within a software sequencer. If you turn off the quantize it will record all timing offsets and velocity changes you play and play them back exactly the same.
I personally think you can do just as well with software. I'm not trying to say don't use hardware, but a hybrid of both, it seems to be the way to go.
Good luck on whatever route you go.
