not a lesson, more of a question.

i am thinking of putting together a demo here in the next few months and would like to avoid common mistakes/misconceptions about putting together a good trance demo.

any tips ?           www.organicparadox.com

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

The common advice is to only put 3-4 tracks on the demo. And let it be, what you consider as your best material. Don't not attempt to master the tracks if you haven't got the experince. It can do some heavy damage to you tracks. A&R's have no problem in listening to unmastered tracks on a demo, and if it should come to a release, the labels usually have people to do that part of the job.

It's a good thing to include bio, but not a must.

I've probably forgotten one or more things, but good luck mate.

If you´re sending demos to people you don´t know and you´re concerned about MP3age, or want to protect your tracks against unauthorised release, you can put messages on each track that spoil the tune for public performance but let the label still hear everything about the track they need to. In my experience, people who complain about this are generally not people you really want to be doing business with.
