i experimented with all pass filters (that are static phazer ? not sure..) maybe on a full mix it could be usefull ,at mastering where we don t have much control ..but havent find it really convincing on bassline, i experimented with one, then a few at different frequencies ,tweaking Q .. didn t work great to me.
it can sound a bit similar to crossovers in some multibands ,dunno what it does excalty.. but it make the phase twisted |

one trick that can work nice to control the bass or even kick bass bus is to use a eq that have exaclty same curve for low shelf boost and cut.. boost few db into a look ahead limiter and then cut . you dont need much dynamic down there to get tight sub but on psy maybe it wont be really helpfull. on techno, dnb it can work nice
just tried on psy it can work really great too.. it s mastering trick but work good in the mix too , but limiter should be carrefuly set offcourse to not generate much distortion (inharmonic you dont want that..) release time is welcome for this and for the groove |

i do this on the highs quiet often with my hardware eq, i dont use limiter.. but i boost like mad to get some sheen, then i cut back.. worth experimenting to boost into a tape emu or saturator might work too, in the low and in the highs or cut the highs and bring them back with something that generate harmonics, can be a way to get ride of "digital" harshness , or can be even worst if the saturator dont sound good |
