Hi people
I have a preview on a bassline im working on.
Im really searching for my sound and this one I kinda like. so now I ask for your help to do better.
I have EQ'ed the kick alittle bit, and the bass is compressed a little
so listen to the bassline, maybe tell me what you think and if you know some good tips I will be glad if you would share them with me.

Bass sounds nice and solid. But the kick is a bit muffled. Maybe try a different one or give it more high so it becomes a bit clearer.
good luck!

i find it to lack fullness. the bass has some low end and quite a lot of midrange (i don't like that personally, but many others do), but imho it's lacking in between, making the whole thing sounding quite thin.
@supergroover
i thought it was the other way round with the kick sounding pretty good. maybe it's my speakers? |

Hi Rework!
I use phase rotation tecnique a lot for my basslines!
I think this bass specificly, could benefint a lot from it, it makes all thin sounding basses sound full and heavy just by enabling a phaser.
What you do, basically as Overdream told me, You add a normal phaser on to the bassline, disable the LFO's and tweak the other parameters to easily see what sounds the best!
I'll upload an example for you!

I said I like it dirty, not muddy. |

It's amazing.
If someone taught me that stuff 3 years ago i'd be the new bizzare contact by now.

I guess, some people actually do O_o
The first one is enabled. Then i disable it.
Maybe it's a matter of taste, don't know.
I find the sound thin, flabby, basic and raw without the phaser. The PHASED one sounds way thicker. The only thing that is a bt of a bother is that the bass often clouds up the kick a little, the low ends of the two turn more into the same sound so.. the punch of the kick needs more high end, and mids.

yeah strange are you sure you didn t mixed the sample order? maybe my ears really tired..
all pass filters are intresting too it s used for frequency dependent time alignment , (and i think used in phazers effect too )
http://www.uaudio.com/blog/allpass-filters/
i know some producer that use these to process the low end but never tried. on the free soneq the WOW knob use one but never really enjoyed what it did ,maybe used subtle it could work.. |

In the first part, the bassline has the phaser turned on, the second part, has the phaser turned off.
For both links
But i know something, Do you listen to it on speakers or headset? try hearing the difference on headset, it'll probably make a lot of difference, some times at least O_o

i listened on cans, but made sound all day.. ears buzzing so can t really tell.. but so far yeah the second was more punchy here but it would need more eq than the 1 maybe.
last time i experimented with all this i find time alignement and equing giving me best result but i m gonna try once again , and experiment with all pass filters too.
do you used the logic phazer?
quadrafuzz many enjoyed it for the phase shift, but same so far i found that chnaging just the timing of the track to play early and equing gave cleaner and better result . but the problem it that you may get less headroom cause of the kick tail |
