This could be samples
I have the suspicion that alot of this prog sound is made with commercial sample packs
No matter where the guy got the sample from, or if he used samples or not, someone had to create (synthesize) the sample. The best would be not to use samples, and to build it our self (as you all are defending), but neither of you haven't helped on how to synthesize it.. and, in order to innovate and make original stuff, it helps on knowing how to make what's already there, so we could change it in our way.
So the question remains: how to synthesize these types of stabs, and make them sound so alive?

Ah dang, so that is the reason I cannot get that typical "proggy sound"! All those months of trying...I should just have used samples instead of making everything on my own My first track:

You can make alot by yourself and get the typical prog sound but yes some samples are just standart and are cool(e.g a typical stab sound, lot of tracks feature it or these nice zaps, must learn how to make myself) but some get boring(offbeat clicking percussion or straight all 16ths ...duh) to me now they must come up with something new
afterall these samples were made by somebody so you can get that sound by yourself its just really practising and learning alot and it needs time...sample are just quick but NOT UNIQUE, even so you can process them alot
and make something new, that also needs to be concidered
nevertheless when I read about that alot of guys use the vengence house packs, I took a closer look...found some sounds I already heard often, but to be fair, the snares and claps are really great, all free samples I found sounded so "organic" but I need artificial claps and snares synthesized like from a 909...layering and you have a new one

it's just your case what path you choose.
if you're a tweaking freak then you'll spent hours to make one simple sound. but some people want to make 'hit music' very fast.
in both cases:
-crowd @party don't care about 'how he make this sound'
-party organiser don't care about 'how he make this sound'
-(many) labels don't care about 'how he make this sound'
so it is only your personal choice.
there is a thousands of tracks on top10, favourited by people where you have kick+bass+sample from vengeance (or other) library
--------------------
do not kid yourself, music in link is made only for $$$ so in that case using samples is the best choice. just another copy of thousands copy of same track. just different title and samples used in
btw many stabs what you can find on sample libraries are coming from sampled funk music (live instruments) so sometimes it is not that easy to make it from scratch

man, for sure you know that a lot of people think that way
At least the enjoy to play it, when you see videos...I've seen them once live as there have been booked by a club who host one of the more or less rare parties in my town, not really good, the djs afterwards were bringing shit together really in comparison
But I agree that it is the progressive stuff that's not really good, it's this "cool" kind of sound just like the cover(:S), there is similar stuff from israel coming alot like Class A or Sonic Sense (anoying percussions all the time, mentioned above) even so there are some exceptions
Kingpink e.g is somehwere near there sound but different I can enjoy his tracks mostly, nice grooves and sounds

I love progressive, I make progressive, but this kind of music is crap.
I understand there are more people who will like it, because of its commercial aspect, but that is just not my vision of progressive psychedelic trance.
