From what I read it got mixed reviews from different magazines, but users who bought it like it. I'll check gearslutz out.
When trying it in the store is it's hard to apply it on what I'd like to test it on, unless I bring the stuff there. I find it a bit cheap for it to come unbalanced. ~£500 extra for the mastering version of it!
What are they doing with it, the guys you work with?

Someone I know from when I was making breakbeat records, just puts stuff through it and cranks the gain up.
Like this guy does here
I would not mind having one.
I can see why the breaks and drum n bass people can get so excited about about putting bass sounds through it, but everyone in trance is so locked in the clean 16th saw bassline...then again no one's stopping you from using it for soaring leads and distorted drums

Balanced/unbalanced aint that important in my book.
They guys I know who owne it, use it for anything really... for hard distortion, warming up tracks etc...

Fragletrollet, that's what I like! Usable on anything!
Agree balanced is out of question and out of the budget too sadly.
I'd like it to be gentle or mad as hell and anything in between. I'd apply it on drums, leads and fx mostly. Prolly often use a reverb before it too for sonic mayhem. Too distorted bass kills the warm woody moog base I love and do most. A little overdrive can work if moderate on bass, usually better on square then saw.
I'm seldom or never doing straight 16th's anymore, but try to make some kind of ~150 psyacidpunk with a bit more lively bass. Atishoo - revolution, that's the type of bass that works for me and my ears.
Here, it's slightly less then $2k. Still expensive enough to think twice about.
I'll be heading to the store with a couple of xox-boxes and try it myself when possible.
The filterbank is on the list too but that I've tried and know what I get.
Btw.. anyone tried the vermona drm mk2/3 with good results? It's perhaps more of a electro/techno thing maybe, but it does have a lot of knobs and a fat sound (on the tube). Haven't found a store here that carry them so no way to test that. It's also relatively cheap.
