Uhmm... So this was the first Live at Goa... Anyone knows a Live that happened before this one?

I wonder what kind of 'Live' act it was... I see the synths in the picture, and i see him using DATs as well... hmmmm.

thats a pretty funny looking live act...
dats.. hmmm
synths plugged into a 2 channed mixer... hmmm
no laptop.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
maybe he was just playing along to the tunes!!
i dont think people ever played live in goa except for gms when riktam and bansi were both there, but hey who knows...
i cant imagine trying to sneak in so much equipment into india as needed unless u were spending amd time there (like xp did) through a major city without ' taxes ' and im sure it must be damn hard to find a nord virus roland in goa...

I think no one will ever will, would you take the risk of putting your expensive equipment in the hilltop or any other place in goa? even the rooms aren't safe enough... |

yo,
so being around a few parties in goa myself.. there are a few more tid bits of info for ya...
xp 2001 : played his aerodance album dat and played along with some synth melodies ontop of that .
jonas 2003 onwards owner of stone age records ( has played a couple of semi live sets ) destktop , midi controller and synth i ha ve seen and he sometimes djs uses his computer and traktor.
didi bizzarre contact 2004 december . played a lap top live at hill top xmas party
as for riktam and bansi i dont recall them playing live in goa ... but maybe i missed that one.
basically the vibe is that goa is a land for djs , and not live acts , you have to react to the crowd and so if all you bring is your last 10 new trax in a live set on your pc then your not gonnna really create the impact that you should. cause you have to change and adapt to the needs of the crowd.and 1 and a half hour is not enough to do that. its a strange place where big names dont mean as much as most other places.
a party is not packed cause a big name dj is playing , its more about the location ..people who make the party etc and most of the time many of the freaks dont even care whos playing behind the decks... those are a few of the positive points in goa .. there are a few ne gative ones too but lets not go there haha
plus i have yet to see any real trance live act????? i think a better topic would be
WHich trance artists actually play a real live act ? i dont really think there are too many .. if any at all... |

no live act = nothing for DJs to play...
quite a simple equation...

Too simple and wrong one
Some DJs/Producers do press their music on vynil for themselves and so suggest "unique" deejay-sets..

hehe.. i remember having this discussion with u....
As far as im concerned, it is next to impossible to sequence music at 145 beats per minute... yes the artist can play pads, maybe even some effects, possibly a lead...
but i dunno if that constitutes 'live' in the real sense of the word.... as all he's done is removed that layer from his track, plugged his synth into another channel on the mackie and play along... and that too it wouldnt be a critical lead if u know what i mean, cuz its not gonna fall the way the rest of the sounds will in the sequencer, it will be a little bit early or late... which is not noticible on a pad or a less intense lead... but in the trance world thats probably as live as u can get... Son Kite do something special with their live act, psysex have their drum station which is a tool they use when ur playing live, but in most cases live - means pre planned... it just looks more impressive to punters like u and me to see some dude hammering away at a red keyboard...
many threads on isra abt this

i've seen a young israeli DJ use his laptop & a midi controller @ a party in BAMBOO FOREST in Dec 2004.
@ dazzler - i'm sure u r rite!!.. GOA has so much music & sooo many people connected with the rhythm, u'd never know if 1 of them pulled off a li'l live set @ some party some li'l place most of us might not've even heard of....
& as V-Shall has said... in GOA not many people care how big a name the DJ is... it's more about the location & tapping into the cosmic rhythm that is channelised thru the holy sands!!..
BIG NAME Live Acts?? - dunno any that were publicised.. but Janux, X.P. Voodoo, Gilbert Levy & a few others might know...
@ full-on - nice topic. let's see if ur quest brings u answers here!!.. hehehehe.....

Sun Project is doing quite a good performance ! I saw them two years ago...
one guy on a battery, one other on a keyboard, and the last one with sequencer, fx's and guitar !
The result is really nice and powerfull, with a toutch of real band. A real live feeling ! |
