could try it like this -
just sounds like a saw+noise osc that has been pitch bended. first gradually and then very fast towards the end.
doing this in soundforge would be the easiest

use any synth, create a noise osc and maybe a saw too, set the filter to bandpass, set the cutoff to a low level and adjust the resonance. create an envelope with a long attack that affects the pitch and the filter, increasing them (you can also increase the pwm for this). you automate this instead of using the envelope. vanguard is good for this things but any synth will do. |

do you see the Glide function on the bottom of albino?
this is where you "bend" sounds on albino, many synths has this function...
also you can use portamento to bend sounds in a cool way... for nice rising portamento sounds you can use portamento in legato mod so you can go from note to note without any attack so the sound, sound like it melts together...
also you have pitchbend which can bend sounds in a more extreme way...
anyway the snippet you have sounds like a portamento effect... you can sweep the filter while the sound is in portamento mod and get this sort of effect...

dma: you can't bend the noise source because it has all frequencies @ the same level (depends a bit on the color of the noise). So the only way to bend it is by sweeping a filter that filters the noise. Automating a bandpass filter is the easiest noisebender imho. Bender, done that

If u use a synth with modualtion envelope (nord lead, dyscovery), route the mod env to the oscilator, set the amount to max, and the attack will tell how fast it will go up...
Another opiton for wooshes is grabbing a big constant sample (airplane sound, wind sample, white noise, ect) and in soundforge/wavelab apply a huge a pitch bend to it. One of my fav wooshes i did with a hairdrier sound pitch bended |

i use the crown jewel Synth1 for a simple and easy sweep...
draw a long continuous note.. in any simple preset that u like to sweep the music with.
then draw on top of that midi event one with only pitchbend action.. like you would do with velocity or any other midi command.
you can make it rise, fall... or even some wacky variations in it so it gets more interesting
i recomend a 1/128 quantize for less obvious bending
this is just a simple way to get it with a huge freeware synth

oh yeah,i should tell u how i made it,like a few people said,i used a sample of a noise or vocal style drone, filtered 2 taiste, then bounce and loaded into a plug like absynth, then used dramatic pitchbend via matrix or automation!!
i couldn't get that really thick and alive sound purely from a noise in a synth,2 thin of a sound i found!!
thanx guys |
