'Doof' is a German colloquial for stupid or idiot

It has finally appeared in the vernacular in the mainstream Australian press.

In some magazine - it says

"......why should mothers do all the relentless, unrecognised parenting work, and still get beaten in the adoration stakes by a slovenly, fried-chicken munching doof with an intestinal methane problem"

the word doof is dead.....

anyone who calls themselves a 'doofer' is an idiot (it's official) yeah ???            Shanti Jatra Fullmoon Festival, Nepal - October 2009

the word doof came from the vibe tribe (not the isreali artist), a sydney techno collective that came out from england. thier next door neighbour, an old granny, got pissed off with the noise and complained "why do you allways listen to that doof doof music"

from then on it was called doof. when the outdoor parties started becoming only psy trance the term "doofer" started to mean "someone who goes out into the bush and listens to goa trance".

yes doof in german means stupid, but we're not speaking german, are we?           http://www.myspace.com/mechanicaldragonrecords

I always thought doof was a really strange name for a trance party, but in Australia, you will be so gratefull for the "doof" as it drives all the crazy mean bull ants away from the dance floor pretty quickly. Anyway...australians speak their own unique and very cool language, my favorite word ever from there is "Rort" totally australian - and what johnny howard does to the country every day           Trance is the answer
