well nice theory but its all gone to shit since people stopped using psychedelics and went to general "drugs use" like speed and nasty shit like that...
i hope it gets better soon...
also i was thinking about it
its not that people at a psytrance event are likely to be on acid, its that acid people might just like to be at a psytrance event...

Ok, first there was music.
Then there was a group of people, deciding to use Psychedelics while listening to music.
What they heard was Psychedelic music, because they were on Psychedelics.
Being so excited about their latest experiment, they wanted to share it with others.
So Psychedelic music was born.
Music where elements from Psychedelic experiences were put in.
But this wasn't enough for people.
As music had to be innovative, artist had to experience Psychedelic music on Psychedelics to come back with new 'Psychedelic' ideas.
What they experienced was Psychedelic Psychedelic music.
But also this wasn't enough for people, as they just went on to use more Psychedelics, while listening to Psychedelic Psychedelic Music.
What they experienced was Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic music.
In order to come up with new ideas, artists again had to use Psychedelics to be a step ahead of the rest, and to bring elements of a Psychedelic experience of Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic music with them, to add in their latest tracks.
So another layer of Psychedelics was added to that of Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic music, called ‘Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic music’.
But again, people weren’t satisfied by this latest development and decided to still use Psychelics on the latest form of Psychedelic music again.
What they experienced was, Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic Psychedelic music.
Again artists had to take Psychedelics to experience their own quintuple-Psychedelic music and to bring new and fresh ideas back from their trips, to again be a step ahead of the rest.
And to surprise all listeners with more crazy, twisted Psychedelic music.
I could go one like this all day long, and that exactly the same problem as what I have in my head when I think of Psychedelic music.
It seems like a silly vicious circle which will never come to an end, as long as the Psychedelic scene will be using Psychedelics.
That is as long as we judge the music on its Psychedelicness.
In a way I find it useless, as we will never accept the music as it is, but how we experience it thru the use of Psychedelics, and this could go one forever.
What do you think?

its called "psychedelic trance" as a label, to group music with similar characteristics, not because the music makes the listener "trip out".
All music has the possibility to be "psychedelic", however it is accepted that the meaning of the word "psychedelic" when attached to a genre of music is that the music shares similar characteristics (what that is i will leave you to figure out), not that listening to it will immediately take you to a psychedelic place, nor does adding the word "psychedelic" to a genre mean that from now on you must listen to the music on a psychedelic.

The music has been oh so cleverly designed to be enjoyed while on psychedelics.
Flora and fauna with mind-tingling properties have have played a huge role in the course of human evolution. Humanity managed to remain humane for 98% of human history but we managed to fuck it up 10,000 years ago. Do you know why?...and this is my theory why it all went wrong! ... because there were too many people and not enough psychedelics to keep them in check between the spiritual and the material spheres of life.
To trip on something all the time in this day and age is pointless and selfish. It's like you are running away from your responsibilities to your community and to humanity overall.
the music that we all enjoy sometimes or at all times should not be taken as THE only answer to life. It's not a cycle in itself but a part of the cycle.
your topic sucks because you are not real and i am a vapour of letters

things go up , first stage , then they plateau out , second stage , finally they go down , and the whole thing repeats .. same with psy music .. sure music today (some of it) is more `trippy` than yesterdays stuff (some mite argue otherwise) but its true for the most part .. so it all depends how you read the situation , for me we are in the plateau stage , and almost beginning a slide , others will say we've long since slid into crap music territory , others yet will say things have never been so good and only getting better , soo .. how do you see things ? however it is , there will always be someone who sees stuff completely differently , and i like that , something out there for everyone eh

yeah i look at individual examples of art or culture. i dont think you could ever generalize the music of an era when there is so much variety to choose from all going in different ways.
for example right now many people are going more in XYZ direction whereas im going more in a QWU direction etc...
personally i feel my music is the best its ever been at this time. its about to get a lot better also.
please note this is different than 'im bored with parties and they were more exciting when i first went to them'
and also different than ' kids these days dont know how to act'
both of which may color your view of the music. (state of the 'scene')

I would go even further and claim that all is "psychedelic" (whatever that word really means). We are just so numbed down we dont see it that way. But if your trippng, wont any kind of music sound spacey?
When im tripping lately, i havent been listening to trance (dark/forest) too much... it seems to get too intense for what I really want to do when tripping.... meditating. But it is sure fun for an expirience of itself, but pretty disturbing if your trying to do anything else than following the music 100%.
Progressive slower trance seems to be the thing more and more for me

I can only explain psychedelics with the truly psychedelic experience I went trough, the only one of a lot before that, this summer on Boom festival.
My world was already shiny and colorful when Kox Box stepped on the scene, and started with the excellent choice of music, that in that moment seemed so strange to me because I could hear every sound detached from any other.I had such a great time those few hours that I felt for the first time why listening to this kind of music and going to psychedelic parties is the way I choose to have fun.I felt why 40 000 people come to dance every year there. And than Ocelot came with such a different style and had one particular sound that continued trough all his live set which made it unforgettable. He played a different music from Kox Box but was still made for psychedelics,so it suited well.(and then somebody else came and I had to run away, please don't get psychedelic music in that direction:))))
So my point:Psychedelic music is made for psychedelics and there is nothing wrong with that. And there is nothing wrong with it's evolution also. The music is just the guide trough the full psychedelic experience , experience of the alternate mind.
