I have played on it. I haven't used it on a project.

To be honest I wish another DAW worked like Protools because I really hate having to use their hardware.

Look, I'm not that down on this piece of software. I think it's a great deal, and has enough features to get started, for sure...alright so you're not limited to four...what is it, six? If you pay, you get more. In the end, having a limited amount of tracks/routing options will prove limiting...even if it's free. And yes, 70 odd dollars for an upgrade aint bad either. I'm sure someone will find this very useful. Reaper seems pretty cool, too.

dude it don't have any limitation, i don't find any limitation with it, why are you shooting that stuff ? you can use totally free and update it for one year... then who knows if you can keep updating.

well, I'm not trying to debate you on this. It's great, OK? You suggested it being the ultimate freebie, right? I suggested Reaper, because for some users, it too, will be free. Ardour is also free...

Ardour has more features than mu.lab., as does Reaper. Give them both a try Although Ardour is for Mac and Linux only.           "Any act, if in accordance with the Will, is an act of Magick."

To be fair, I tried Mu.tools a while back and was impressed...I collect things that help create music. But it is limited to 6 tracks, I don't understand why you're saying it doesn't (free version) the unlimited version costs $, which doesn't make it the ultimate freebie...

From the MUTOOLs website...
MU.LAB Free (which is free to everyone!) has a 6 track limit, can only mixdown in 16 Bit and only supports 1 mono out for ReWired devices. But be sure: a creative soul can do A LOT with that!

Yes, that's cool, but IS limited

How about Energy XT?

About the price of 1 Albino 3 oscilator, not bad hey!

http://www.energy-xt.com/

I'm thinking of making the switch to something more 'simple' than Cubase.
As all I need is just audio/midi tracks, an internal mixer with Vst support of course and automation.

That should pretty much do the job.

energy-xt is all modular? I've seen screeshots, and it looks cool. And with it being modular, capable of many things other DAWs' arent?           "Any act, if in accordance with the Will, is an act of Magick."

Pd

Barely a DAW, but as flexible as you want it to be.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

Reaper rocks IMO, do all my final mixing in reaper...not that much arranging though, but i think it's a totally "pro" sequencer.

Even if I am already an happy Renoise user I am thinking about Energy XT to arrange in a faster way the audio files that I've created with the tracker.

Energy XT looks pretty simple, light and cheap.

Any XT user around here to share his experience?           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

Dont underestimate Reaper. Its a solid peice of work. Starting out with it is not a bad idea, save some cash and give it a swing. U might end up stying there. Things are a little different but mostly just right click and u got what u need in a submenu.
